ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- After a successful full-team effort at Duke last weekend, the University of Michigan women's track and field team will once again split up this Thursday through Saturday (April 14-16) for dates at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Louisville Invitational.
The Wolverines' sprinters, jumpers, throwers and select distance runners will head to the west coast for the Mt. SAC Relays at Mt. San Antonio Community College, which is annually one of the premier track and field competitions in the United States.
Most of the distance corps, as well as select individuals from other event groups, will travel south to Louisville for a one-day competition at the Cardinal Track Stadium.
With the countdown to the Big Ten Championships in Minneapolis, Minn., down to four remaining weekends of regular-season competition, Michigan student-athletes at both meets will look to begin to dial in their performances in anticipation of the postseason.
Thursday's action at Mt. SAC will mostly feature throwers Corinne Jemison and Amanda Schaare as they look to advance from preliminary competition in both the shot put and discus beginning at 12 p.m. PT. The lone track event of the day will be Alice Hill in the steeplechase at 8 p.m. PT.
Friday will be the busiest day at the newly renovated Hilmer Lodge Stadium, with Michigan events beginning at 11 a.m. PT in the field with triple jumper Riley Ammenhauser and 11:35 a.m. ET on the track with Aasia Laurencin in the 100-meter hurdles prelims.
Michigan will field two dozen entries in 12 different events throughout the day, concluding with Kayla Windemuller in the 5,000 meters at 10:15 p.m. PT. Among those also expected to compete on Friday include multiple-time Big Ten champion Ziyah Holman (400 meters); pole vaulters Jessica Mercier, Brooke Tjerrild and Mia Manson; former Big Ten Athlete of the Week long jumper Ameia Wilson; and U-M first-year record-holder BreeAna Bates (100 meters).
Saturday at Mt. SAC is much lighter, by comparison, with only potential finalists in the 100 meters competing at 1:35 p.m. PT and the meet-finale 4x400 relay at 5:05 p.m. PT.
The bulk of Michigan's Saturday competitors will be 2,000 miles away in Louisville, where action is tentatively scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and last through 5:15 p.m.
All-American Aurora Rynda is entered to compete in either the 1,500 meters or 800 meters, with All-Americans Katelynne Hart (3,000 meters) and Lucy Petee (800 meters) also expected to compete.
Runnerspace will carry live streams of the Mt. SAC Relays on its subscription streaming service.
Live results at Mt. SAC will be provided through Finished Timing, and live results from Louisville can be found at GoCards.com.
Updates will be posted to the official Michigan track and field social media channels throughout the weekend.
