ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- As the University of Michigan women's track and field team prepares for its final push toward the postseason, the Wolverines will send select student-athletes to Bloomington, Ind., this Friday and Saturday (April 22-23) for the Indiana Invitational.
Thirteen women across the sprints, distance and jumps events will compete at the two-day competition, to be held at the same Haugh Track and Field Complex that will play host to the NCAA East Prelims in just over a month's time.
Newly minted pole vault co-school record-holder Brooke Tjerrild is slated to be in action for the Wolverines, along with All-American distance runners Ericka VanderLende (1,500 meters or 3,000 meters), Katelynne Hart (1,500 meters), Sam Tran (1,500 meters), Alice Hill (1,500 meters) and Lucy Petee (1500 meters).
A partial track session gets underway at 5:30 p.m., with Michigan entries scheduled for the 200 meters at 5:30 p.m. (Simone Roberts and Delaney Stersic), 400-meter hurdles at 6 p.m. (Lauren Fulcher), and women's 1,500 meters at 7:40 p.m. (Tran, Hill, Vanderlende, Hart, Petee and Yasmine Mansi).
Saturday's action begins at 3 p.m. for the Wolverines with Tjerrild in the pole vault. Michigan will have additional entries in the 4:00 p.m. 100-meter hurdles prelims and potentially finals at 5:20 p.m. (Carlita Taylor), the 4:45 p.m. 400 meters (Roberts, Stersic), and the 6:15 p.m. 800 meters, Tran, Fulcher, Mansi).
The full Michigan squad will reunite for one last regular-season road trip next Thursday through Saturday (April 28-30) for the Drake Relays.
