
Wolverines Take on Texas Tech in Battle 4 Atlantis Finale

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan basketball team closes the Battle 4 Atlantis in the 5th/6th place game against Texas Tech on Friday (Nov. 24) in the Imperial Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. on ESPNU with Kevin Fitzgerald and Andraya Carter as the broadcast team.
Notes
• Juwan Howard returned to U-M's bench at the Battle 4 Atlantis. Despite his return, associate head coach Phil Martelli still has served as the Wolverines' interim head coach. Howard underwent a successful heart procedure (Sept. 15) at the University of Michigan Health Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center.
• Michigan squared off with Stanford on Thanksgiving (Nov. 23), going toe-to-toe with the Cardinal before a 22-2 second-half run helped push the Wolverines to an 83-78 victory. The Wolverines were down 14 (23-9) after the first seven minutes,but used one of its two long rallies (19-5) over the next seven minutes to even the score at 28-28. With six lead changes and four ties, the Maize & Blue went into halftime up 45-44. Stanford used a quick 8-0 run to start the second half and was up seven (52-45) before the Wolverines rallied again (22-2) capped off by three straight steals which led to two thunderous dunks and an easy lay-in. U-M never trailed again in the contest, winning 83-78.
• After trailing by 12 after the first half (37-25), Michigan battled to within a single point in the second half against Memphis in the Wolverines opening game at the Battle 4 Atlantis (Nov. 22). The comeback came up just shy, however, as the Tigers used late free throws to seal a 71-67 win. Michigan pulled within one point with just over four minutes remaining in the second half, but a Tigers three-pointer from Jaykwon Walton put them up four, where they stayed for the remainder of the game.
• All five starters were in double-figures against Stanford (Nov. 23) at B4A: Dug McDaniel (20), Terrance Williams II (17), Olivier Nkamhoua (16), Tarris Reed Jr. (11) and Nimari Burnett (10). The last time U-M had all its starts shoot in double-digits was last season against Nebraska (Feb. 8, 2023 at Crisler Center) -- Jett Howard (22), Hunter Dickinson (16), McDaniel (14), Kobe Bufkin (13) and Williams II (10).
• With a career-best four three-pointers in the game against Stanford (Nov. 23) at B4A, Terrance Williams II has 13 total on the season. He is inching closer to his single-season best total of 20 already, which came through 31 games during the 2021-22 campaign. He had 17 through 30 games last season.
• Michigan had scored 25 points with 7:33 remaining in the first half against Stanford (Nov. 23) at B4A and finished with 45 in the opening frame. The Wolverines had 25 total first-half points against Memphis (Nov. 22) in the opening B4A game. U-M has 45-plus first-half points in 5-of-6 game this year.
• Michigan had a season-best 50 rebounds in the contest against Memphis (B4A), including 19 offensive rebounds. En route to the half century board, Tarris Reed Jr. had a career-best 12 rebounds, Burnett grabbed a career-best nine and McDaniel had a career-best seven.
• Burnett continues to make three-pointers on the road as 10 of his 13 have come away from Ann Arbor -- with six coming in the Battle 4 Atlantis. Additionally, Will Tschetter is 9-for-12 from beyond the arc.
