
Wolverines Announce Eight Newcomers for 2023 Season

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan field hockey program officially announced Thursday (July 6) the addition of eight newcomers -- seven freshmen and one graduate transfer -- to the team's 2023 roster.
The Wolverines' incoming freshmen include Abby Burnett (Zionsville, Pa.), Esmée de Willigen (Rotterdam, Netherlands), Payton Maloney (Saline, Mich.), Juliette Manzur (Mareil-Marly, France), Natalie Millman (Ann Arbor, Mich.), Kelsey Reviello (Colonial Beach, Va.) and Hala Silverstein (Glenwood, Md.), while Isabella Palde (Schwenksville, Pa.) joins Michigan as a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility.
Burnett, a back, is a two-time first team High School All-American, according to both the NFHCA and Max Field Hockey. A three-time Pennsylvania all-state selection for Emmaus High School, she was named Max Field Hockey's 2022 Pennsylvania Region Player of the Year. Burnett posted 87 goals and 105 assists over her prep career. She is a member of the U.S. Women's National Indoor Team, competing in the 2023 FIH Indoor World Cup in February, and she recently captured gold with Team USA at the inaugural Hockey5s Pan-American Cup in June. She is a Max Field Hockey Class of 2023 Top 50 Player.
De Willigen, a forward, has played with Hockey Club Rotterdam since 2010, contributing to five Dutch national championships over the span, ranging from U12 in 2017 -- as well as an indoor national title in 2017 -- to back-to-back U18 titles in 2022 and 2023. She also played with the Southern-Holland district team in 2019 and the Dutch U15 National Team in 2019-20.
Maloney, a midfielder, was named to the MHSFHCA Dream Team and First Team All-State as a senior (2022) for Saline High School after earning honorable mention honors in 2021. She was named to the 2022 Max Field Hockey All West-Midwest Region second team and the NFHCA High School Impact Senior Team and, in 2023, a recipient of the MHSCA Rich Tompkins Multi-Sport Athlete Award as a standout in field hockey, basketball and soccer. Maloney played club with Pinnacle Field Hockey, helping win gold at the AAU Junior Olympics in 2021, and is a Max Field Hockey Class of 2023 Top 100 Player.
Manzur, a forward, has participated in two European Cups B with the French U18 and U21 teams, with more than 50 international matches. She contributed to a first-place finish in 2021 and a runner-up finish in 2022, twice helping promote the French junior squads to European Cup A competition. Her club team won four straight outdoor championships from 2018-20, as well as an indoor title in 2018, and Manzur was nominated MVP of France in 2018 after scoring eight goals at the regional championship.
Millman, a midfielder, was named the 2022 Michigan Player of the Year by both the Michigan High School Field Hockey Association and Max Field Hockey after helping guide Pioneer High School to the state championship. She also earned Max Field Hockey Third Team All-America honors in 2023 and was twice named to the All West-Midwest Region team (2021, '22). Millman posted 76 career goals with 33 assists and 185 total points. A member of the Pinnacle Field Hockey Club, she is a Max Field Hockey Class of 2023 Top 50 Player.
Reviello, a midfielder, was a four-time VHSL All-State honoree, twice earning first-team honors (2021, '22), for James Monroe High School. A USA Today Top 25 Field Hockey Player (2022), she was named Freelance Star All-Area Player of the Year and James Monroe High's Female Athlete of the Year as a senior and a VHSL Regional Player of the Year as a junior (2021). She posted 99 career goals, including 54 in her senior season, and 57 career assists. Reviello played club field hockey with the High Voltage organization and was a member of the U18 Rise Junior National Team (2022) and U16 Junior National Team (2020, '21). She is a Max Field Hockey Class of 2023 Top 50 Player.
Silverstein, a goalkeeper, garnered First Team High School All-America honors from both the NFHCA and Max Field Hockey after helping guide The Hill School to the 2022 PAISAA state championship. She twice earned NFHCA All-Pennsylvania Region selection and is a two-time PAISAA All-State first-team honoree (2021, '22). A member of the WC Eagles club, Silverstein has also played with multiple U.S. national teams, including the indoor women's developmental team (2023-24), indoor junior national team (2022), Rise national team (2022) and U16 national team (2020). She is a Max Field Hockey Class of 2023 Top 10 Player.
Palde, a forward, appeared in 48 games over three competitive seasons at Cornell and compiled eight goals, including five as a junior (2021). She was named to the 2021 All-Ivy second team and earned Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week after back-to-back multi-goal games. She was a three-year starter at The Hill School, where she led the team in scoring her final two seasons and earned Mercury All-Area first team and honorable mention all-state honors as a senior (2018).
The Wolverines will kick off their 51st season of intercollegiate play with the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge, taking on North Carolina and Wake Forest, on August 25-27 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
