CWPA Co-Rookie of the Week (April 8) -- Following a dominant weekend in four CWPA games at Bucknell, freshman Emma Gustafsson was honored as the CWPA Co-Rookie of the Week, joining Brown's Aubrie Anderson. Gustafsson tallied 17 points in four games with 12 goals and five assists in the Wolverines' 3-1 trip to Lewisburg, Pa. The honor is Gustafsson's third rookie of the week award and fourth overall accolade after being named the conference player of the week on March 25.
CWPA Player of the Week (March 27) -- After a 13-point weekend at the Michigan Invitational in Canham on Saturday and Sunday (March 23-24), freshman attacker Emma Gustafsson earned CWPA Player of the Week honors. Gustafsson tallied seven goals and six assists in a dominant performance in the Wolverines' 3-1 tournament outing. The award is the freshman's first player of the week distinction of her career and third weekly honor of her tenure to go along with two freshman of the week accolades. » CWPA Release
Cutino Award Watch List (March 14) -- Seniors Libby Alsemgeest and Kata Utassy were named to the Peter J. Cutino Award Watch List. Alsemgeest and Utassy were two of 22 players in the country to land on the list following an excellent start to the 2024 campaign. Utassy is the leader of the Wolverines offense, pacing the team in goals (49), assists (28) and points (77). She has been valuable on the defensive end of the pool as well, ranking second on the team with 20 steals and tied for third on the roster with five blocks. Alsemgeest is a force on both sides of the ball, tallying 31 goals, 37 total points and 107 drawn exclusions this season. The center also has logged 17 steals, good for third on the team. Both Alsemgeest and Utassy have started all 21 games for the Maize and Blue this season. The Peter J. Cutino Award, named after the late Hall of Fame coach, is given annually to the best men's and women's college water polo player. CWPA Player of the Week (Feb. 29) -- Senior attacker Kata Utassy was named CWPA Player of the Week for the second time season after a crucial 14-point performance in Michigan's 3-1 weekend at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational. Utassy scored seven goals and added seven assists to help Michigan defeat Cal State Fullerton, No. 13 UC Santa Barbara and No. 7 Arizona State. » CWPA Release
CWPA Rookie of the Week (Feb. 21) -- Attacker Emma Gustafsson earned her second conference distinction of the season after a dominant offensive performance in Michigan's three wins at the Indiana Classic. The Greenwich, Conn., native scored eight goals and dished out four assists for a total of 12 points in the victories over Salem, Iona and California Baptist. » CWPA Release
CWPA Defensive Player of the Week (Jan. 31) -- Alex Brown earned her second consecutive CWPA Defensive Player of the Week nod after a stellar performance at the Wolverine Invitational that included 33 saves and stopping more than 70 percent of the shots she faced during the Wolverines' 4-0 weekend. » CWPA Release
CWPA Rookie of the Week (Jan. 31) -- Jillian Schlom earned her first career conference award with a CWPA Rookie of the Week recognition. After a quiet weekend at Polo-Palooza two weeks ago, Schlom displayed her offensive prowess at the Wolverine Invitational with three goals and six assists, with five of those helpers coming in U-M's 20-3 win over Salem to close out the tournament. » CWPA Release
CWPA Player of the Week (Jan. 22) -- Kata Utassy earned the CWPA Player of the Week honor after scoring 13 goals and tallying three assists for a total of 16 points at Fresno State's Polo-Palooza to open the season. Utassy scored six goals in the season opener against No. 5 Hawai'i and added four goals against No. 4 California to close out the tournament. » CWPA Release
CWPA Defensive Player of the Week (Jan. 22) -- Alex Brown collected her first CWPA Defensive Player of the Week nod of the season after racking up 31 saves at Polo-Palooza. She ranks fourth in the country with 10.3 saves per game and has tallied double-digit saves in 13 of her last 14 games. » CWPA Release
CWPA Rookie of the Week (Jan. 22) -- Attacker Emma Gustafsson tallied three points (one goal, two assists) at Polo-Palooza to receive CWPA Rookie of the Week recognition. She got her Michigan tenure off to a strong start in the season opener against No. 5 Hawai'i, notching her first career goal and assist against the Rainbow Wahine.
