Notes
• No. 5 Michigan ends a two-match homestand with a pair of top-ranked opponents in No. 11 Virginia and No. 8 Florida. These matches will bring Michigan's ranked opponent total to four on the young season. The Wolverines still have No. 6 Pepperdine, No. 7 NC State, No. 12 Ohio State, No. 16 USC and No. 25 Wisconsin remaining on their schedule, in addition to at least three ranked teams they will face at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
• U-M punched its ticket to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship last weekend, getting a pair of shutout wins over Utah (Jan. 26) and Arkansas (Jan. 27) to advance to the national event for the second straight season. The event will be held in Seattle from Feb. 9-12.
• Michigan and Virginia squared off twice last season, with U-M sweeping the season series. U-M knocked off the Cavaliers 4-2 in the first round of the 2023 ITA National Team Indoor Championship. The teams met again in the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament, with Michigan again pulling out a 4-2 victory. Michigan is now 4-6 all-time against the Hoos.
• U-M and Florida are meeting for the second straight season after the Gators recorded a 4-1 win in Gainesville last season. Michigan shut out Florida 4-0 in its last trip to the Varsity Tennis Center on Feb. 4, 2020.
• Michigan switched up its No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams last weekend, with both pairs going 2-0 in their dual-match debuts. Anna Ross and Lily Jones went 2-0 together at No. 2, with the freshman duo of Piper Charney and Reese Miller winning both matches at No. 3. For Ross and Miller, it marked their first dual-match wins at Michigan.
• Through four dual matches, Julia Fliegner (2-0) and Gala Mesochoritou (3-0) remain unbeaten in singles action. Charney is the only Wolverine to have finished all four of her singles matches, going 2-1 at No. 5 and 1-0 at No. 6 for a 3-1 dual-match record.
• U-M has four ranked singles players in No. 10 Kari Miller, No. 39 Fliegner, No. 47 Jones and No. 82 Mesochoritou. Miller and Jaedan Brown combine to form the No. 8-ranked doubles pair and are 2-0 at No. 1 to start dual-match action. New individual rankings are slated to be released on Feb. 7.
• There will plenty of ranked individuals in action over this two-match stretch. U-M has the aforementioned four ranked singles players, with Virginia coming to Ann Arbor with four and Florida with three. The Gators and Cavaliers each have two ranked doubles teams to join Michigan's No. 8 pairing.
