
U-M to Close Out Regular Season at IU Wednesday, Northwestern Friday at Crisler

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan volleyball team (17-12, 7-11 Big Ten) will start the weekend with a road trip to Bloomington, Ind., before closing the season at home for the Senior Night match in Crisler Center. The Wolverines will face off against Indiana (13-15, 6-12 Big Ten) on Wednesday (Nov. 27) at 7 p.m. before returning to Ann Arbor to play Northwestern (5-21, 3-15 Big Ten) on Friday (Nov. 29) at 7 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live on Big Ten Plus.
Notes
• The Wolverines split last weekend with a win against Maryland and a loss to No. 13 Oregon. On Nov. 21, the Wolverines hosted the Terrapins and won the game in three sets, breaking a seven-game losing streak. Valentina Vaulet led the way for U-M with 14 kills with Amalia Simmons right behind at 13 kills. Michigan then hosted the Ducks on Saturday and fell in three sets after a hard-fought game.
• Jacque Boney has been a major contributor to the Wolverines in her senior season. This past weekend, she passed 200 kills on the season and now has 213, which ranks third on the team. Boney has been a very efficient hitter as well, recently passing 500 attempts with a .304 hitting percentage. Additionally, Boney is in the top 15 in program history for all three blocking categories. She ranks seventh in career total blocks with 393, eighth in career block assists with 343, and tied for 13th in career solo blocks with 50.
• As the team's setter, Morgan Burke has played a key role for the Wolverines this season. She recently passed 1,000 assists on the season and now sits at 1,077, which ranks fourth in the Big Ten and 35th in the nation. Additionally, she now has 1,565 assists in her career which puts her at 11th in program history. Burke has also been an asset behind the service line with 29 aces and defensively with 274 digs and 34 total blocks on the season.
• Simmons has had some recent success after playing in every set for the Wolverines this past weekend. Against Maryland, she had a season-high 13 kills and was second on the team in kills for the game. Simmons hit very efficiently as well, recording a .320 hitting percentage having only five errors with 25 attempts on Friday. On the season, Simmons has 28 kills and seven blocks.
• Valentina Vaulet has had an outstanding sophomore season, most notably behind the service line. She reached 60 aces on the season, which ties her for third in program history for single-season aces, and has become the first since 1987 to accomplish the feat. Vaulet sits second in each category in the Big Ten, fifth in the nation for aces per set, and seventh in the nation for total aces. At the net, Vaulet has recorded 323 kills and 56 total blocks and in the back row, she has tallied 216 digs, ranking in the top five on the team in all of those categories.
• As the team's libero, Maddi Cuchran has played in every set this season joining Boney and Burke as the only players to do so. She recently passed 400 digs on the season and she is averaging 3.87 digs per set. Cuchran ranks third in the Big Ten for total digs and fifth for digs per set. She has also contributed 117 assists and 19 service aces, ranking second and third on the team in those categories, respectively.
• Serena Nyambio has been having an impressive junior season. She is nearing 200 kills on the season with 192, and she leads the team in hitting percentage with .334. Nyambio recently passed 100 total blocks on the season, sitting at 104.0 (14 solo and 90 assists), which ranks first on the team.
• Indiana is 13-15 on the season and 6-12 in the Big Ten Conference. The Hoosiers split its last weekend defeating UCLA before falling to Ohio State. Michigan leads the all-time series against Indiana with a 45-41-1 record, but the Hoosiers have won the last three.
• Northwestern enters the matchup at 5-21 and 3-15 in the Big Ten. The Wildcats conference wins have come against Maryland and two against Iowa. U-M holds a lead in the all-time series with a 51-30 record with the teams splitting the matchups last year.
