Michigan Falls in Seven Against No. 7 Oregon State at College Baseball Series

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The University of Michigan baseball team was run-ruled by Oregon State 11-1 in seven innings in the Kubota College Baseball Series on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 23) at Globe Life Field.
Michigan (2-4) struck first with a Jonathan Kim solo home run in the second inning, but could not keep up with the Beavers. After the second inning, U-M only had just four baserunners.
Oregon State (6-1) used four big innings to end the game after seven. The Beavers scored three in the second, fifth and sixth innings and added two in the third for their 11 runs on the afternoon.
After a scoreless Michigan first inning, U-M helped Jacob Denner escape a jam in the bottom half, turning a 5-4-3 double play. Leading off the second inning, Kim gave U-M the lead with a solo home run to right field and the Wolverines led 1-0.
The lead was short-lived, with Oregon State scoring three runs on three hits in the second inning and adding a two-run homer in the third to take a 5-1 lead.
Denner held the Beavers scoreless in the fourth inning, allowing just one baserunner, but was touched for for three runs -- two earned -- in the bottom of the fifth.
The Beavers added three more runs in the sixth to take an 11-1 lead and after a leadoff Voit single in the seventh, closed out the game.
The Wolverines will return to Globe Life Field for the final day of the Kubota College Baseball Series on Sunday (Feb. 25) at 1 p.m. CST against No. 2-ranked Arkansas. The game will be streamed live on FloSports.
