
Four Wolverines Post Top-10 Marks at USF

TAMPA, Fla. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team opened its outdoor schedule at the USF Alumni Invitational on Friday (March 16) at USF Track and Field Stadium, with three Wolverines posting top-10 program marks.
Savannah Sutherland ran a career-best 23.33 seconds in the 200-meter dash, winning the event and recording the No. 2 mark in program history. Noelani Phillips (24.17) and Sophie Isom (24.18) finished 16th and 17th, respectively, with Isom recording a career-best time.
In the 800-meter run, Penelopea Gordon recorded a personal-best time of 2:04.78 for second place and the No. 7 mark in program history. Samantha Hastie also posted a personal best time (2:05.94) to finish third.
Emma Yungeberg was the third Wolverine to post a top-10 program mark, throwing 47.97m (157 feet, 4 inches) in the javelin for the second-best mark in Michigan history. Clare McNamara finished seventh in the javelin with a mark of 35.99m (118 feet, 1 inch).
Three Wolverines finished in the top-10 in the shot put, with Corinne Jemison (16.65m/54 feet, 7.5 inches) finishing second, Maria Deaviz (16.60m/54 feet, 5.5 inches) finishing third, and Elizabeth Tapper (15.71m/51 feet, 6.5 inches) finishing seventh. Tapper's mark was a personal best and tied for the No. 6 program mark. McNamara also saw a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 13.13m (43 feet, 1 inch).
U-M will close out the weekend with day two of the USF Alumni Invitational on Saturday (March 16) at 1:30 p.m. at USF Track and Field Stadium.
