
Maize and Blue to Compete at Clyde Hart Invitational at Baylor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team will head to Waco, Texas, for the Clyde Hart Invitational hosted by Baylor on Friday and Saturday (March 22-23). Field action will begin at 11 a.m. CT on both days, while track action will begin at 6 p.m. CT on Friday and 3:35 p.m. CT on Saturday.
Notes
• U-M opened the outdoor season with a bang, setting one record and recording six program top-10 times at the USF Alumni Invitational last weekend.
• Corinne Jemison led the team's effort, finishing second in the shot put (16.65m/54 feet, 7.5 inches) and setting the program record in the discus throw with a mark of 57.20m (187 feet, 8 inches). Jemison previously set the discus record (58.08m/190 feet, 6 inches) at the 2023 Big Ten Outdoor Championships.
• Jemison set the program standard for both the discus and the shot put (17.24m), while Holman set records in the 200-meter dash (23.08) and the 400-meter dash.
• In the 800-meter run, Penelopea Gordon recorded a personal-best time of 2:04.78 for second place and the No. 7 mark in program history. Savannah Sutherland ran a career-best 23.33 seconds in the 200-meter dash to win the event and post the No. 2 mark in program history.
• Emma Yungeberg threw 47.97m (157 feet, 4 inches) in the javelin for the second-best mark in Michigan history while Elizabeth Tapper finished seventh in the shot put (15.71m/51 feet, 6.5 inches) to tie for the No. 6 program mark and Maria Deaviz finished third in the shot put (16.60m/54 feet, 5.5 inches) for the second-best U-M mark.
• Two Wolverines finished in the top eight of the 400-meter dash, with Sidney Green taking sixth (54.92 seconds) and Sophie Isom taking eighth (55.25). Green was just 0.61 seconds from the No. 10 time in program history.
• Gordon (4:17.63), Samantha Hastie (4:18.23), Cassie Kearney (4:19.23) and Tilly Simpson (4:21.43) finished 1-2-3-4 in the 1,500-meter run, while Samantha Saenz finished seventh (4:24.28) and Rylee Tolson finished ninth (4:27.30). Hastie and Kearney both set personal bests.
