
Laurencin, Sutherland Set for NCAA Indoor Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Aasia Laurencin and Savannah Sutherland of the University of Michigan women's track and field team will represent the Wolverines at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday (March 8-9) at the Track at New Balance in Boston, Mass. The NCAA Championships will be streamed live on ESPN+.

• Laurencin will run the 60-meter hurdles after winning the event at the Big Ten Indoor Championships last weekend. The senior ran a personal-best 8.06 seconds in the preliminaries to advance to the finals, where she ran another personal-best 8.01 to win the title, just 0.005 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. At last year's NCAA Indoor Championships, the Southfield, Mich., native ran 8.16 in the 60-meter hurdles for 11th in the preliminaries.
• Sutherland will run the 400-meter dash; she won the Big Ten title in the event while running it for the first time this season. After finishing second in the preliminaries (52.18), Sutherland ran 51.67 in the finals for the win. The senior was 0.05 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
• Sutherland finished seventh in the 400-meter dash at NCAA's last year, running 51.75 in the preliminaries and 51.60 in the finals. The Borden, Saskatchewan, native also ran a leg in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing ninth with a time of 3:31.24.
• Preliminary action for the 400-meter dash will begin at 7:30 p.m., while the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries will begin at 8:05 p.m. on Friday (March 8). Finals action for the 400-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles will be Saturday (March 9) at 7:20 p.m. and 7:40 p.m., respectively.
