
Michigan to Host No. 18 Michigan State in Regular-Season Finale

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team (13-11, 7-1 Big Ten) hosts No. 18-ranked Michigan State (21-4, 7-1 Big Ten) on Saturday (April 20) at 4 p.m. at the Varsity Tennis Center in one of the more pivotal matchups between the in-state rivals in recent years. Both teams are tied for second place in the Big Ten standings. It will be a Maize Out at the VTC with free admission.
Notes
• Saturday's match will be Senior Day for Jacob Bickersteth and Nino Ehrenschneider, as the pair will be recognized before opening serve.
• Michigan had a seven-match win streak come to an end on Sunday (April 14) in a loss to No. 1-ranked Ohio State. The Wolverines are 13-11 overall and 9-2 when playing at the Varsity Tennis Center.
• Both Michigan and Michigan State are 7-1 in the Big Ten standings with the lone loss to the Buckeyes. OSU still has two matches remaining (against Nebraska and Wisconsin), with the regular-season champion yet to be crowned.
• Michigan boasts a 107-19 edge in the all-time series with MSU. The Wolverines are 25-2 since 2000 and have won every match since the 2005 season, a streak of 21 wins.
• MSU is ranked No. 18 in the latest ITA poll under second-year coach Harry Jadun with a 21-4 overall record.
• Patorn Hanchaikul and Will Cooksey posted a 6-4 win over No. 20-ranked Justin Boulais and Andrew Lutschaunig on Sunday. It is the pair's first win over a ranked duo as they improve to 5-6 on the season 2-0 in the league after sweeping their doubles matches last weekend.
• Michigan is 9-1 this season when it wins the doubles point and has secured the opening point in five of the last seven meetings. Bickersteth and Gavin Young are ranked No. 25 as a duo and are 6-1 against Big Ten opponents -- their lone loss to No. 2-ranked Robert Cash and JJ Tracy (OSU), and sport an 11-6 overall record.
• Michigan has won its last eight matches at No. 1 singles, the last loss coming on Feb. 16 against USC. Young is 10-6 at No. 1, and Bickersteth is 1-0. The Wolverines also are on a five-match win streak at No. 6 singles.
• Young is ranked No. 18 in the latest ITA singles rankings. He is 10-6 at No. 1 singles and is 16-10 overall this season. On a seven-match win streak, he is undefeated in Big Ten play at 5-0 and has an 11-8 record against ranked opponents this season.
• Will Cooksey is 6-1 in Big Ten matches and had a career-best win streak of six this season. Nicholas Steiglehner has won his last four matches and is 5-1 in the Big Ten.
