• The Wolverines will be paired with Ohio State and Maryland for the first round. They are expected to start on the first tee (9:24 a.m.) and will play in nine-minute tee times. The Wolverines, Buckeyes and Terrapins met earlier this season at the season-opening Mary Fossum Invitational (Sept. 17-18), hosted by Michigan State.
• U-M will travel six starters for the Big Ten Championships. Senior Monet Chun, fifth-year senior Hailey Borja, sophomore Lauren Sung, freshman Sidney Yermish, sophomore Sydney Sung and sophomore Mara Janess comprise U-M's starting six.
• The Big Ten Championships will be played in a 6-count-4 format. With a new rule change, coaches will not have to designate a non-counter before each round.
• It was just two seasons ago when Michigan won the program's first conference championship with a three-round total of 857, topping Michigan State by four shots at the 2022 Big Ten Championships at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, Pa. Chun used her career-low total of 205 (-8; 70-66-69) to win the conference individual title -- the second in U-M history (Elodie Van Dievoet, 2017). U-M finished with four Wolverines among the top 30 individuals to help secure the first conference title.
• Chun makes a fourth straight trip to the Big Ten Championships. Winning the 2022 individual title (205, -8), she adds a tie for ninth (215, -1) in 2021 and a tie for 20th (223) in 2023. Joining her for a fourth appearance is Borja. After the 2020 event was canceled due to COVID-19, she has two top-20 finishes to her credit -- 2021 (t-18th, 218) and 2022 (t-17th, 222).
• Michigan closed its regular season in grand fashion, claiming the team title at the Chattanooga Classic by six shots with an 855 54-hole total at the Council Fire Golf Club. The Maize and Blue was paced to the title by medalist, and Big Ten Golfer of the Week, Chun's record-breaking performance. After an opening 74, she used 11 birdies to post a U-M and tournament record 61 (-10) -- marking the second-lowest NCAA women's golf single-round tally. With a closing 68 (-3) she etched a 203 (-10) to earn her third career win by two shots.
• Despite missing her first career event for U-M at the Chattanooga Classic, Borja posted a top-10 finish at the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur. In her second appearance in one of the world's top amateur events, she used rounds of 71 (-1) and 72 (E) at the Champions Retreat to advance to the final round at Augusta National. With a 74 (+2), she tied for eighth with a 217 total.
• Michigan has had a Wolverine finish among the top 10 in eight of nine events. Chun leads U-M with five top Wolverine finishes while Borja has four. Chun tied for runner-up honors at the Nexus Collegiate (Feb. 12-14) and has three top-three finishes, including her win at the Chattanooga Classic (203, -10). She was third at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational (208, -8). Borja has a season-best tie for fifth at the Stanford Intercollegiate (209, -4). For their careers, Borja has 18 top-10 finishes (47 events), while Chun has 11 (39 events).
• Chun continues to hold the U-M scoring lead with a career-best scoring average of 71.71. She has carded nine sub-par tallies, including a U-M record 61 (-10) in the second round of the Chattanooga Classic. Borja is second with her career-best pace of 73.21 per round. She has eight sub-par tallies and has twice fired a U-M season- and career-low 67 -- in the final round of the Gators Invitational (March 1-2) and second round of the Valspar Augusta Invitational.
• Yermish is the lone Wolverine to start all nine events. Third on U-M, Yermish is averaging 74.44 per round with a trio of sub-70 tallies -- a career-low 68, twice in the final round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational (Oct. 9-10) and the first round of the Valspar Augusta Invitational. He adds a 69 (-1) in the final round of the Gators Invitational.
• For the fourth time this season and the eighth time in their careers, twins Sydney and Lauren Sung will be in U-M starting lineup together. Lauren leads the sisters with her 75.04 scoring average, starting six of her eight events, while Sydney is just behind at 75.55, with five starts in her seven events. Both are making their second appearance in the Big Ten Championships.
