
Numerous Personal Bests Set as Wolverines Compete Across Two Sites

ANN Arbor, Mich. -- The No. 21-ranked University of Michigan women's track and field team competed across two sites, at Kentucky and Wake Forest, on Friday (April 19). Penelopea Gordon led the team's effort, becoming the sixth-fastest woman in program history in the 1,500-meter run.
Wake Forest Invitational
In the 800-meter run open section, Mara Longenecker finished seventh with a personal best 2:10.19.
Gordon finished 16th in the 1,500-meter run invite section with a time of 4:13.24 and Samantha Hastie finished 20th (4:16.40), with both seeing personal bests. Gordon's time moved her into sixth on the all-time performers list.
Tilly Simpson ran a personal best 16:13.85 in the 5,000-meter run invite section to finish second. Haley Deighan finished eighth in the 5,000-meter run open section with a time of 17:05.26.
Jim Green Invitational
Savannah Sutherland and Aasia Laurencin both saw personal bests in the 200-meter run, with Sutherland finishing first (23.32) and Laurencin finishing sixth (24.10). Sidney Green finished 12th with a time of 24.41.
Emma Yungeberg won the javelin throw with a mark of 48.39m (158-9). Cate Visscher finished second in the pole vault, clearing 3.90m (12-9.5).
In the heptathlon, Mia Manson sits in second place with 2977 points through the first four events. Manson set a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.90.
The Maize and Blue will close out the Jim Green Invitational on Saturday, April 20. Action at the Kentucky Outdoor Track & Field Complex will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the heptathlon long jump.
