ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Women's Basketball Coach Kim Barnes Arico announced Thursday afternoon (April 25) the addition of Ally VanTimmeren as a graduate transfer from Boston College with two years of eligibility remaining.
"We are really excited to bring Ally back home to Michigan," Barnes Arico said. "She is long and can play multiple positions, can shoot the three and play with her back to the basket. She is extremely versatile on the court and has that Midwest toughness to her game that we love. She comes from a basketball family and has been around the game forever. We can't wait to see what she brings to our program."
VanTimmeren, a 6-foot-2-inch forward from Allendale, Mich., played three seasons at Boston College, missing this past season with an injury. During her sophomore season (2022-23), she appeared in all 33 games with six starts. She scored in double figures six times, five of those coming during ACC play, while averaging 5.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in 21.7 minutes per game. She scored a career-high 17 points on 8-for-9 shooting against Pitt (Jan. 29, 2023) and had a career-high 10 rebounds against Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 13, 2022) during the 2022-23 season.
VanTimmeren joined BC midseason during the 2020-21 campaign, appearing in 10 games (5.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game) during the COVID-19 shortened season. In her true freshman season (2021-22), she appeared in all 33 games with 21 starts while averaging 4.8 points and 3.0 rebounds in 16.3 minutes per game.
She was named to the 2022-23 ACC All-Academic Team and is graduating from Boston College with a management degree.
During her high school career at Jenison, VanTimmeren was a four-star recruit and the No. 44-ranked prospect in the class of 2021 by Blue Star Basketball. She was a three-year letterwinner and all-conference selection, scoring more than 1,000 points for the Wildcats. She averaged 20.8 points, 10.1 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game as a junior while earning Michigan Associated Press All-State first-team honors during her career.
