ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan volleyball team (3-0) will wrap up a four-game homestand on Wednesday (Sept. 4) at 7 p.m. against Eastern Michigan (2-1) at Crisler Center.
Notes
• The Wolverines opened the season hosting the Michigan Nike Classic and went undefeated with a win over Delaware and two wins over Kent State. U-M reverse swept the Blue Hens on Friday (Aug. 30) and beat Kent State in three and four sets in a doubleheader match on Sunday (Sept. 1).
• Valentina Vaulet led the team in points scored over the weekend scoring 42. She tallied 12 aces -- which is double the next closest person on the team -- while adding 28 kills and four block assists. Vaulet set a new career high in digs with 15 in the second matchup against the Golden Flashes.
• Allison Jacobs also set a new career high against Kent State -- tallying 19 kills, and passing her career high at U-M by 10 and her collegiate career high by four. Jacobs leads the team in kills after the first weekend with 39 and is averaging 3.25 kills per set. She is second on the team in digs with 35 and has also been served to the most times with 89 total receptions.
• Serena Nyambio tallied 17 kills to reach a new career high in the second match against Kent State as well. Her previous match high was 13 doing so against Colorado State last September. She currently leads the team in solo blocks (2) and total blocks (10) and is second on the team with 32 kills. Nyambio is first on the team in hitting percentage by a wide margin, hitting .415 over the first three matches.
• Graduate transfer Kendyl Reaugh reached the 1,000-kill milestone in the first set against Delaware with her third kill. She added 15 more throughout the weekend and has totaled 22.5 points this season. Â
• Along with Reaugh, four freshmen made their collegiate debuts. Trixie McMillin saw action in eight of the 12 sets and registered four aces alongside eight digs. Ella Demetrician played in six of the seven sets on Sunday and tallied 14 kills, seven digs, two block assists and two aces. Both freshman setters also saw action with Camille Edwards tallying 11 assists across three sets and Ellie White adding two in one set. Â
• Morgan Burke picked up where she left off last year and tallied 119 assists in the first three matchups. She is currently averaging 9.92 per set and was two assists off of tying her career high of 49 in the second match against Kent State. Burke added seven kills and six aces which are both almost half of last year's total already. She added six block assists as well alongside 26 digs.
• Eastern Michigan is 2-1 on the season -- losing its opening match to SIUE, and beating IU Indy in five sets and Valparaiso in four sets. Michigan is 35-15 against the Eagles all-time with the last matchup coming in 2021.
