
Maize & Blue Readies for Windy City Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 4-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team (2-0) will open its road slate at the 2025 Windy City Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 18) at 7 p.m. CST in Chicago, Ill. U-M will compete alongside Big Ten foe Illinois and several club teams at Navy Pier.
Notes
• Freshmen Carson Eshleman and Solen Chiodi made their collegiate debut in the Wolverines' season-opening win (310.900) against Greenville (299.450) and Simpson (287.400) on Jan. 11. Graduate transfer Syam Buradagunta also made his Maize and Blue debut.
• Eshleman took home event titles in the high bar (13.500) and the still rings (13.400), and earned CGA Rookie of the Week honors. His high bar score is tied for No. 1 in the nation while his still rings score is fifth.
• Kyle Walchuk won the pommel horse with a score of 13.700, David Wolma won the vault with a score of 14.350, and Logan McKeown won the parallel bars with a score of 13.750 to give U-M five of six event titles.
• Wolma's vault score is No. 1 in the nation while McKeown's parallel bar score is No. 2 and Walchuk's pommel horse score is No. 5 in the nation.
• As a team, the Wolverines are second in the nation on vault, high bar and still rings, and fifth on the pommel horse.
• Freshman Aaronson Mansberger and sophomore transfer Charlie Larson are expected to make their Wolverine debuts in Chicago.
• Illinois comes in at No. 5 in the Preseason CGA Coaches Poll and has yet to compete this season.
• Michigan has won seven of the last 10 regular-season meetings with the Illini, topping Illinois in two of three meetings at the Windy City Invitational.
