
U-M to Open 2025 in Bloomington Against No. 2 Indiana

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 13-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team (2-0, 1-0 Big Ten) will open 2025 with a trip to Bloomington, Ind., to take on No. 2 Indiana (2-1, 0-0 Big Ten) on Friday (Jan. 10) at 11 a.m. inside the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center.

• Last time out, U-M dominated the Georgia Tech Invitational, tallying 1,418 points to take first place ahead of Auburn, Emory, Florida State and Georgia Tech.
• Gal Groumi set a new program record in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 41.75 seconds. Groumi's mark leads the Big Ten and ranks seventh in the nation.
• Colin Geer paces the conference in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:41.43. He also ranks seventh in the conference in the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 46.05.
• Eitan Ben-Shitrit has shown versatility this season, checking in at third in the conference in the 200 free with a time of 1:33.21. The junior also owns a top-10 time in the Big Ten in the 200-yard IM at 1:42.71.
• Jon Jøntvedt continues to dominate the long-distance freestyle events, earning a first-place showing the last two times he competed in the 1,650-yard freestyle. The freshman clocked a 14:48.20 to outrace the field at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
• Bence Szabados logged a new season-best time in the 50 free at the Georgia Tech Invitational, posting a 19.20 to check in at second in the Big Ten in the event. Szabados sits just .02 seconds behind Indiana's Mikkel Lee.
• Cameron Gammage impressed at the Georgia Tech Invitational, finishing second overall in the one-meter and three-meter dives. Gammage's three-meter score of 409.95 ranks seventh among Big Ten divers.
• Michigan and Indiana will meet for the 88th time, with the Wolverines leading the series 47-37-3. The Hoosiers currently check in at No. 2 in the latest edition of the CSCAA poll.
