
Michigan to Host ITA Sectional Championships at VTC

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team will host the ITA Sectional Championships this week (Nov. 6-9) at the Varsity Tennis Center. The tournament is scheduled to be played indoors and admission is free.
Only players and doubles teams who have yet to earn entry into the NCAA Championships and have made deep runs at the ITA All-American or ITA Regional Championships will be eligible for participation.
The 2025 ITA Sectional Championships will have a draw size of the following: singles, 32 and doubles, 16. From this, six singles players from each section (24) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (semifinalists, two quarterfinal playoff winners). Meanwhile, three doubles teams from each section (12) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the Sectional Championships (champion, finalist, third place).
The Central Sectional Championships include teams from the Midwest, Central, and Texas regions. Schools represented at the VTC are Michigan, Ohio State, Baylor, Notre Dame, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Memphis, Illinois, Oklahoma, Tulsa, TCU, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Texas and SMU.
Representing Michigan in singles will be Bjorn Swenson. He will play doubles with Max Dahlin, who has already qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship. Nicholas Steiglehner and Mert Oral will also play doubles.

Thursday, Nov. 6
10 a.m. -- Singles Round of 32, followed by Doubles Round of 16 (NB 1 p.m.)
Friday, Nov. 7
10 a.m. -- Singles Round of 16, followed by Doubles Quarterfinals
Saturday, Nov. 8
10 a.m. -- Singles Quarterfinals, followed by Doubles Semifinals
Sunday, Nov. 9
10 a.m. -- Singles Quarterfinal Playoff, followed by Doubles Semifinal Playoff
