
Maize and Blue to Take Three-Match Win Streak on the Road

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 17-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team (8-6, 2-0 Big Ten) will begin a four-match road swing through the Midwest beginning with Nebraska (8-4, 1-1 Big Ten) and Wisconsin (6-4, 0-2 Big Ten) this weekend. The Wolverines will play the Huskers on Friday (March 14) at 5 p.m. CT in the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center and the Badgers on Sunday (March 16) at noon CT from Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

• Michigan is riding a three-match win streak that includes sweeping Oregon and Washington last weekend as the Big Ten conference slate opened. The Wolverines are 8-6 overall and ranked No. 17 in the latest ITA national rankings.
• Michigan owns a 12-1 record in the all-time series with Nebraska, its lone loss in 2014, winning eight matches since, seven coming via shutout. Nebraska enters the weekend 8-4 and went 1-1 last weekend on the road at Illinois and Northwestern.
• The Wolverines boast an 86-9-1 series mark against the Badgers and have won the last 16 meetings, dating back to 2010. Wisconsin is 6-4 and opened conference play going 0-2 against Illinois and Northwestern.
• Senior Will Cooksey helped seal the win last Sunday for the Wolverines over Washington as he clinched a 4-3 decision, winning at No. 3 singles. Cooksey battled back from down 4-1 in the third set to take it 7-5. The senior is now 7-3 in dual play and 15-6 this academic year. In his career, he is 10-1 in Big Ten play.
• Sophomore Alex Cairo is on a three-match singles win streak, including a 2-0 Big Ten mark. He is 4-2 in dual play, with all matches coming at No. 6 -- and is 9-7 overall this season. Senior Patorn Hanchaikul and Cooksey are both on two-match win streaks in singles.
• Michigan has not yet lost a doubles match in Big Ten play, going 4-0. When the Wolverines win the early point they have gone on to win five of six matches. The team is 3-4 when it loses the doubles point.
• Ranked singles players include Benjamin Kittay (61), Gavin Young (87) and two ranked doubles in Kittay/Young (7) Kittay/Hanchikul (85).
• Hanchaikul's double win with Cooksey on Sunday marked his fifth conference doubles match, as he improves to 5-0 in pair play during his career.
