ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 3-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team (13-3, 6-0 Big Ten) returns home to the Varsity Tennis Center this weekend, hosting Illinois (8-8, 3-2 Big Ten) on Saturday (March 29) at noon and Northwestern (9-8, 2-3 Big Ten) on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Sunday's match against Northwestern is part of a doubleheader with the men's team.
• Michigan moved up to No. 3 in this week's ITA team rankings after securing wins at No. 24 UCLA (March 22) and No. 16 USC (March 23). U-M has faced nine teams ranked in this week's top 25.
• Michigan sits atop the Big Ten standings with a 6-0 record. Wisconsin is the only other unbeaten team, checking in at 5-0. The Wolverines and Badgers do not face each other this season, as the Big Ten schedule consists of 13 matches.
• U-M is 6-0 at home this season, surrendering just six points across its six matches at the Varsity Tennis Center.
• U-M has won 34 straight Big Ten regular-season matches, dating back to the 2021-22 season. Michigan's sweep of the L.A. road trip last weekend kept that streak intact.
• The Wolverines are facing Illinois and Northwestern for the first time since the 2022-23 season after not meeting either team last year. U-M has won eight straight and 12 of the last 13 against NU and holds a 43-11 all-time record against Illinois.
• Michigan has five ranked singles players: No. 3 Julia Fliegner, No. 22 Piper Charney, No. 34 Lily Jones, No. 86 Emily Sartz-Lunde, and No. 123 Reese Miller.
• U-M swept the Big Ten weekly awards for the second straight week. Miller was named Big Ten Player of the Week, while Sartz-Lunde earned her third Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor. It was the second weekly award for Miller.
• Fliegner now has 106 career singles victories, placing her eighth all-time in Michigan history.
• Head coach Ronni Bernstein is in her 18th season at the helm of the Wolverines. She holds a 536-195 overall coaching record and ranks eighth nationally among active coaches in wins and 18th all-time.
• Michigan will travel to the state of Indiana next weekend, facing Indiana on Friday (April 5) and Purdue on Saturday (April 6). Both matches are scheduled to begin at noon.
