
U-M Sets Three Top-10 Program Marks, Closes Regular Season at Len Paddock Open

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team closed out the regular season at home on Friday (May 9) with the Len Paddock Open at the U-M Track and Field Stadium, setting three new top-10 program marks.
Payton Smith finished first in the 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 52.99 seconds to move up one spot to No. 3 on the program performers list.
A trio of Wolverines finished in the top 10 of the 800-meter run, with Penelopea Gordon finishing second (2:07.61), Emma Thomas finishing fifth with a personal-best time of 2:11.02 and Lucy Petee finishing just behind in sixth in a season-best 2:11.22.
The Maize and Blue saw six in the top 10 of the 3,000-meter run, with Anjali Hocker Singh (9:41.76) finishing second to lead the contingent. Mara Longenecker (9:53.84) and CC Jones (9:53.89) ended up third and fourth, respectively, while Ainsley Workman finished sixth (9:59.62), Katelyn Watkins was eighth (10:06.58) and Abby Bonnema finished ninth (10:07.98). Workman and Bonnema both had personal-best performances.
Abigail Russell threw for a personal-best mark of 55.14 meters (180 feet, 11 inches) in the hammer throw, the No. 8 Mark on the program performers list.
Clare McNamara finished second in the javelin throw with a personal-best mark of 43.34m (142-02) to move up on the program performers list to No. 4.
Maya Anderson saw a personal best mark of 5.95m (19-6.25) in the long jump to finish first, coming just 0.01m shy of tying the No. 10 mark on the program performers list.
Michigan will begin postseason competition with the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, next Friday through Sunday (May 16-18) at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
