
Wolverines to Kick Off 2025 Campaign with Michigan Open

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's cross country team will open its 2025 slate at home, hosting the Michigan Open on Friday (Aug. 29) at 5 p.m. at the Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich. Attendees are subject to Hudson Mills Metropark's $10 daily admission rate.
Notes
• The Wolverines finished fifth at the 2024 Big Ten Championships and sixth at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The team did not advance to the NCAA Championships.
• Michigan received votes in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Preseason Poll and comes in at No. 5 in the Great Lakes Region.Â
• The team returns five of seven Big Ten Scorers in Nathan Lopez, Caleb Jarema, Trent McFarland, Luke Venhuizen and Peter Baracco, losing Jack Spamer and Zach Stewart. Venhuizen and McFarland paced the team at Regionals, finishing 22nd (29:43.9) and 28th (29:51.8), respectively. Venhuizen was named All-Region for his top-25 finish.
• Heath McAllister, Kyler McNatt and Jack Kelke also return to the lineup.
• At the 2024 Michigan Open, McNatt led the team with a third-place finish (15:25.8). Nolan Clark, Akili Parekh, and Camden Law made their Wolverine debuts at the 2024 Michigan Open, finishing ninth (15:29.7), 11th (15:34.0) and 25th (16:11.1), respectively.
• Brendan Herger, Jonathan Miles and Marcus Reilly are expected to make their Maize and Blue debut.
