ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The No. 25-ranked University of Michigan men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw with Oakland on Friday night (Sept. 5) at Oakland Soccer Field, with all four goals being scored in the final 45 minutes.

Kyle Pierson and Michael Ramirez each scored their first collegiate goal to get Michigan on the board. Pierson added an assist on Ramirez's score along with Nolan Miller while Nicholas Cassiday tallied his first point of the year with an assist on Pierson's score. The Wolverines set the pace during the match, outshooting Oakland 15-8.

Michigan (3-0-2) controlled possession for the majority of the first half and outshot Oakland 6-3 in the opening 45 minutes. Quin Rogers accounted for three of the six shot attempts, while Isaiah Goldson notched one save in the scoreless stanza.

Pierson found the breakthrough early in the second half for the Maize and Blue, as Cassiday found him in the middle of the box, and Pierson powered the ball past the keeper to vault U-M in front 1-0 in the 56th minute.

Ramirez scored his first of the season less than 10 minutes later as Pierson and Miller combined to find the sophomore in the penalty area, and he calmly finished the chance to double Michigan's lead to 2-0.

Oakland (0-2-3) responded with its first goal in the evening to draw closer, 2-1, in the 80th minute before equalizing in the 88th minute to bring the match to a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes.

Michigan will be back on the road to open Big Ten play when it travels to Bloomington, Ind., to take on the No. 4-ranked Hoosiers on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. The matchup will be streamed live on B1G+.
