
Balanced Offense Sends Michigan Past Wisconsin

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 9-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team showed its offensive balance in a decisive 86-60 win over Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 11) at Crisler Center. Michigan had four players score in double figures as it defeated the Badgers, 86-60.
Michigan honored the career of Diane Dietz (1979-82) before the game, raising her No. 21 jersey to the rafters.
Olivia Olson led Michigan with 21 points and six rebounds, with Te'Yala Delfosse turning in a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Mila Holloway added 18 points, six rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes of action. Brooke Quarles Daniels joined the 1,000-point club for her career, recording eight points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals. Kendall Dudley rounded out Michigan's double-figure scorers, contributing 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Michigan held a 48-26 advantage on the glass, turning 21 offensive rebounds into 19 points.
Michigan opened the game on a 16-0 run, holding the Badgers off the board until 1:39 left in the first quarter. Six different Wolverines scored during the spurt, with Michigan taking a 21-5 lead after 10 minutes of play behind seven points from Holloway.
Michigan pushed its lead to 20 points for the first time in the second quarter, 31-11, on an Olson layup with just under six minutes remaining before the half. The Wolverine defense continued its strong play, again holding Wisconsin scoreless for nearly four minutes in the middle stages of the quarter to extend the lead to 38-11.
Olson hit a 30-foot triple before the halftime buzzer, sending Michigan into the locker room with a 48-21 lead behind her 17 first-half points.
The Michigan lead grew to as many as 30 points in the second half, with all 13 available Wolverines seeing action. Wisconsin cut the deficit to 20 points midway through the fourth quarter but did not get any closer.
Michigan continues its two-game homestand on Thursday (Jan. 15), hosting Illinois at 7 p.m.
