
Wolverines Set for Sunday Matchup with NC State

ANN ARBOR, Mich -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team (1-3) will return to action after a weekend off, hosting NC State (6-3) on Sunday (Feb. 15) at the Varsity Tennis Center. The match is set for noon and admission to the VTC is free.
Notes
• Michigan wraps up a five-match homestand to start the season, hosting NC State on Sunday (Feb. 15) at noon. U-M has three non-conference matches remaining before kicking off Big Ten action against Ohio State on March 6.
• U-M is 5-1 all-time against NC State, winning the first five matches against the Wolfpack before falling, 5-2, last season in Raleigh.
• Lily Jones became the first Wolverine to reach the 20-win mark in singles this year after recording a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 in Michigan's win over Penn (Jan. 24). She is 21-5 on the season, reaching 20 wins for the fourth straight season. She picked up the 100th win of her career during the NCAA Singles Championship and is now 10th all-time at Michigan with 105 singles wins. Â
• Michigan has five ranked singles players in Piper Charney (No. 9), Jones (No. 14), Reese Miller (No. 72), Emily Sartz-Lunde (No. 85) and Jessica Bernales (No.94). Charney and Jones each earned ITA All-America honors in singles this past fall by reaching the round of 16 in the NCAA Singles Championship.
• Michigan is 1-0 this season when winning the doubles point. U-M has a pair of ranked doubles teams in No. 35 Jones/Bernales and No. 68 Charney/Sartz-Lunde.
• Miller leads the way for Michigan in dual matches, going 3-1 over the first four of the season. She is 1-1 at No. 3 and 2-0 at No. 4.
• Head coach Ronni Bernstein enters her 19th season as the head coach, holding a 552-200 overall coaching record. She is 387-107 as the Michigan head coach, leading Michigan to 12 Big Ten championships and six Big Ten tournament titles.
• Michigan will hit the road for the first time next weekend, heading to Stillwater to face Oklahoma State on Saturday (Feb. 21) at 11 a.m. CT.
