
Wolverines to Host Michigan Invitational, Senior Day

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team will return home to host the Michigan Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 7) at the U-M Indoor Track Building. Field events will begin at 10 a.m., while track events will begin at 11:30 a.m. Following the conclusion of the meet, the program will honor its 15 seniors as part of Senior Day activities.

• Michigan comes improved to No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region in the latest USTFCCCA rankings.
• The shot put event squad (Elizabeth Tapper, Abigail Russell, Trinity Franklin and Janey Campbell) remain second in the NCAA with an average mark of 15.53 meters (50 feet, 11.5 inches). The 800-meter run event squad (Emmry Ross, Stephanie Bertram, Coraline Haggarty and Penelopea Gordon) is NCAA No. 5 with an average time of 2:06.30.
• U-M returns home after competing at the Razorback Invitational at Arkansas on Jan. 30-31, setting five top-10 program marks.
• Chiamaka Odenigbo placed sixth in the pentathlon (3,991 points), while Amare Harlan placed eighth in the long jump (6.23m/20-5.25), both achieving the No. 5 mark on the program's performance list for their respective events.
• For the third meet in a row, Chyler Turner set a top-10 program mark in the 60-meter hurdles. In the preliminaries, she set a personal-best time of 8.26 seconds before besting that with a time of 8.22 in the semifinals to finish 13th and set the No. 5 time on the program performance list.
• Emmry Ross placed sixth in the invitational section of the 800-meter run (2:03.10), putting her at No. 2 on the program's performers list to come just 0.48 seconds shy of the program record. In the open section, Stephanie Bertram placed second (2:06.52) and Coraline Haggarty placed eighth with a season-best time of 2:08.41.
• The 4x400-meter relay team of Sidney Green, Trinity Henderson, Payton Smith and Ross saw a season-best time of 3:34.64, the No. 3 time on the program's performance list.
• The Maize and Blue will hit the road next weekend (Feb. 13-14), splitting between the Heartland Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind., and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass.
