
Michigan to Begin B1G Action at No. 2 Ohio State, Penn State

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team (3-4, 0-0 Big Ten) begins Big Ten action this weekend on the road, heading to No. 2 Ohio State (9-1, 2-0 Big Ten) on Friday (March 6) at 6 p.m. and Penn State (9-1, 0-1 Big Ten) on Sunday (March 8) at 11 a.m.

• Michigan kicks off Big Ten action this weekend on the road, heading to No. 2 Ohio State (9-1, 2-0 Big Ten) and Penn State (9-1, 0-1 Big Ten). The Big Ten schedule will consist of 13 matches for the second straight season.
• U-M has won 41 straight Big Ten regular-season matches, dating back to the 2021-22 season and has won the last three Big Ten championships.
• The Wolverines are coming off a 4-3 win over No. 20 Duke, their first win over a ranked opponent this season. Michigan won the doubles point and got singles wins from Reese Miller, Lily Jones and Emily Sartz-Lunde in the victory.
• Michigan and Ohio State met three times last season, with Michigan winning the two regular-season matches and OSU taking the win in the championship match of the Big Ten Tournament. U-M is 54-22 all-time against the Buckeyes. No. 2 Ohio State finished runner-up at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship while featuring four ranked singles players and four ranked doubles teams.
• U-M is 36-3 all-time against Penn State after recording a 4-1 win over the Nittany Lions last season at the Varsity Tennis Center. PSU has one ranked doubles team in No. 75-ranked Maelie Monfils and Olivia Dorner.
• Michigan has two non-conference matches remaining, coming against Ohio State on April 1 and Oakland on April 12 at the Varsity Tennis Center.
• Jones became the first Wolverine to reach the 20-win mark in singles this year after recording a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 in Michigan's win over Penn (Jan. 24). She is 22-6 on the season, reaching 20 wins for the fourth straight season. She picked up the 100th win of her career during the NCAA Singles Championship and is now ninth all-time at Michigan with 107 singles wins.
• Michigan has three ranked singles players in Piper Charney (No. 14), Jones (No. 15) and Miller (No. 123). Charney and Jones each earned ITA All-America honors in singles this past fall by reaching the round of 16 in the NCAA Singles Championship.
• Michigan is 3-0 this season when winning the doubles point. U-M has won the last two doubles points with the same lineup, going with Jessica Bernales/Jones at No. 1, Miller/Laura Rahnel at No. 2 and Charney/Sartz-Lunde at No. 3.
• Head coach Ronni Bernstein is in her 19th season as the head coach, holding a 554-201 overall coaching record. She is 387-108 as the Michigan head coach, leading Michigan to 12 Big Ten championships and six Big Ten tournament titles.
• Michigan returns to the Varsity Tennis Center next weekend, hosting Nebraska on Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. and Iowa on March 15 at noon.
