ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team (20-15) will return to midweek action with a pair of games, beginning on the road at Toledo (16-19) on Tuesday (April 14) at 6:30 p.m. at Fifth Third Field, streaming on ESPN+. The Wolverines then come home to host Eastern Michigan (10-24) on Wednesday (April 15) at 4 p.m. at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium, with coverage on B1G+.
Notes
• Michigan enters the week having won eight of its last 10 games, including three consecutive conference series and both recent midweek contests. The Wolverines secured a series win over Michigan State over the weekend, highlighted by a complete game from Kurt Barr in the opener and a home run from Greg Pace Jr. in game two, before falling in the finale.
• Colby Turner continues to pace the offense, raising his batting average to .399 after a .550 performance across five games last week. The junior recorded 11 hits in 20 at-bats, scored eight runs, and drove in five. Turner ranks second in the Big Ten in batting average and leads the conference in hits per game (1.62). He carries a 15-game hitting streak and has scored in 12 consecutive contests.
• Cooper Mullens has provided a spark atop the lineup, starting nine of the last 10 games. The redshirt sophomore has reached base 14 times during that stretch, scoring eight runs and adding five RBIs, with four doubles among his 13 hits since joining the starting lineup.
• Brayden Jefferis moved down in the lineup and found his swing, hitting .343 over the past 10 games and .389 over the five-game week. Jefferis recorded seven hits over the five games, including one double, while scoring four runs and bringing home six. His six RBIs were second on the team over the five games and he is now second on the team with 22 on the season.
• Matthew Ossenfort had started just one game since March 25 against Toledo, but earned the nod at first base in the final two games over the series against Michigan State. Ossenfort recorded two hits in both games for his fifth and sixth multi-hit games of the season, but first since March 10. Three of his four hits were doubles and he scored a run in the series finale.
• Grant Bradley has become a reliable option in midweek appearances, pitching in one such game each week since March 10. After beginning the season with 14 scoreless innings, Bradley has logged 9.2 innings over his last two midweek outings against Toledo and Eastern Michigan, allowing four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.
• Toledo enters Tuesday's matchup at 16-19 following a series loss to Western Michigan. Michigan earned a 5-2 win in the earlier meeting this season and holds a 45-14-1 all-time advantage over the Rockets, including a 13-5 record in Toledo.
• Eastern Michigan comes into Wednesday's contest at 10-24 and on a seven-game losing streak. The Wolverines defeated the Eagles 15-4 last week, improving to 127-64-2 in the all-time series and 78-34 at home, though EMU claimed a narrow 9-8 win in last year's meeting in Ann Arbor.
