Ohio State redshirt freshman RHP Greg Prenger entered the game in the first inning, replacing injured starter Nate Smith. Prenger (2-1) worked six solid innings for the victory, allowing just one run on 11 hits. Michigan starter Bobby Wood (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek HS) went 3.1 innings and allowed five hits and six runs as his record dropped to 0-3.
OSU's Turner was in the middle of the Buckeye attack all game as he walked and scored in the first, homered (his 10th of the season) in the third, singled in two runs in the fourth and tripled in a run in the sixth. He accounted for seven (three runs scored and four RBI) of the 14 OSU runs. OSU catcher Chris Alvord went 3-for-5 with his first career homer.
Michigan junior SS Scott Tousa (Dallas, Texas/Lake Highland HS) paced Michigan's 17-hit attack, going 4-for-6 for the second four-hit game of his career. Senior co-captains 3B Kevin Quinn (Midland, Mich./Midland HS) and LF Rob Bobeda (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt HS) each chipped in with three hits as did freshman 2B Jordan Cantalamessa (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek HS).
Junior All-America candidate catcher David Parrish (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a sixth-inning single. His streak includes all 16 Big Ten games played by the Wolverines.
Michigan has a week off for final exams and will have just a non-conference doubleheader vs. Siena Heights (Sunday, April 23, 1 p.m.). The Easter Sunday twinbill will feature an Easter Egg Hunt in Fisher Stadium at noon.
