Michigan coach Kathy Teichert
On the struggles in the final round ... "It was just a disappointing day. It's hard to take a trophy when we played as bad as we did. That is what I am disappointed about. I am very pleased that we won, but I am not pleased with how we got there today. When you don't play well down the stretch, especially in the final round of a tournament, it hurts. It hurts just from the standpoint of a confidence level. We didn't play well today. It looks like we missed a lot of putts out there. Were the pins and the holes in difficult positions Maybe. At the same time, we know this golf course better than any other team out here. We didn't handle that as well as I would have expected them to."
On where the Wolverines go from here ... "We need to rejuvenate our batteries. We are a little tired. I think that was evident today. We have gone three weeks in a row. We need to take a little break and really just focus on the next tournament at hand."
Senior Amy Schmucker
On the tournament win ... "This team really needed a win to get some confidence going. I am really proud of the girls. There were a couple of girls, in that final round, that really had to dig deep to shoot the numbers they did. I was especially proud of Lindsay (Davis). She really stayed with it today and got us that really good number."
On her tournament focus ... "I was really proud of my 68 and then I had two really bad holes in the second round, which were the result of bad putts. I let that get into my head a little. So, today I came out and thought that with a 10-stroke lead that we had it locked. I really was thinking on the individual title. It's my last home tournament and I wanted to do well because it would mean so much to me. I started out with a bogey and then double-bogey and that really shook me to the core. I three putted the first two greens. I just felt like I took myself out of it, but then I just tried to rethink my focus and put that on the team. The course was difficult today and it was still anyone's out there to win. So, I tried to focus on getting pars and bring it home down the stretch. I knew we need to score to get the win and we did that today. Some people really stepped up."
Sophomore Lindsay Davis
On her final round helping the Wolverines to the victory ... "Yesterday I really didn't do my job in the second round, so it was my turn to step up. I really was ready for it and I did it. The course was playing really tough. The pins were back and in some tough spots. As a whole the entire field's scores were pretty high today. I just tried to take advantage where I could and it worked out for the best. Sometimes you just have to really bring it home. It's a good to win. We did our job and got it done."
