The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team inked 12 student-athletes as members of the team's 2015 recruiting class last spring. The recruiting class is the fourth full class in the team's varsity history. MGoBlue.com will sit down with each incoming freshman on an individual basis this fall.
Next up is attackman/face-off man Brent Noseworthy, a crafty offensive threat from Burlington, Ontario, who possesses a wide ranging skill-set that saw him play man-up in fall exhibition action.
On taking a prep year at Avon Old Farms ... "I think taking the extra year definitely helped me prepare. Avon Old Farms academically prepped me, I didn't struggle with the academics before that but just going in there it taught me how to be organized and prepared. Those are the skills I've really been able to transfer over here and getting the opportunities to play lacrosse at one of the best schools in the nation and compete against other great schools has really helped me out."
On being Canadian ... "There's always the Tim Horton jokes and stuff like that, but I love being from Canada. It gives you something unique and lacrosse wise too, you see a lot of schools recruiting Canadians because of their style of play. It's really good to see that coming but other than that, all the guys are fun and games with jokes. It's not like I'm from somewhere too foreign."
On his skills with jumping into the face-off game ... "I've always taken face-offs as part of my game, I've never really been defined as a face-off get off player. It's always been something that I've been able to do. While I'm here, if that's going to be my role that'll be my role. It's whatever works for the team."
On blending into that attack unit ... "The attack game is a really strong unit and right now. I'm just trying to learn from everyone that's playing right now and their styles. Especially Kyle (Jackson), just being Canadian too. Although I'm a lot more of a bigger body guy than Kyle, he plays as if he had a huge body, and it's interesting to see that. I want to learn as much as I can from him before the season is done and how he works to protect his stick."
On his goals for the season ... "I just want to be able to help the team and whatever role that is that I'm in. If that's a player that in practice is going to be working to make everyone else better and pushing my teammates, I think that is really important and ties into the culture of our team we all need to have. If it's going to be a player that is making an impact anywhere on the field, whether it's face-off or attack, just whatever the role is, I am happy to be doing that."
