ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Sophomores Ian King and Gerald Logan of the University of Michigan men's lacrosse team have been named to the All-Big Ten honorable mention list, the conference announced Tuesday (April 28). Additionally, senior Mike Francia was named as the team's Sportsmanship Award honoree.
King earns the honor after leading the team in goals (23), assists (11) and points (34) despite missing four games in the middle of the season due to injury. Additionally, he ranked second in the conference in goals per game (2.56), shots per game (8.56) and fourth in points per game (3.78). He was one of two players in the conference to register at least eight points in a game alongside Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Ryan Brown (Johns Hopkins), who registered eight points in a 15-6 win over Detroit (Feb. 14). King had four hat tricks on the season and will enter the 2016 season with a 21-game point-scoring streak, which began on March 1, 2014. King has marked off 46 goals, 11 assists and 57 points over that span.
Several individual season records were also broken by the Cincinnati native in points in a season, assists per game, points per game, shots per game and goals per game. King also set the school record for goals in a game with six (twice) and goals in a quarter with four during the fourth quarter against Penn State (April 25) in the 2015 season finale. He was named Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Week, as well as Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week (Feb. 16). The honor was his second conference award of his career, as he was named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team in 2014.
Logan, who missed all of last season due to injury, wrapped up the 2015 season first in the conference in saves per contest (12.20) and fifth with a save percentage of 50.4. He turned in two of the top single-game save outputs in the conference this season, stopping 19 shots against Jacksonville (March 3) and 18 attempts in U-M's four-overtime thriller over Saint Joseph's on March 14. Logan, who led the NCAA during his 2013 freshman campaign in saves per game with 15.07, was named to the ECAC All-Freshman Team that same season.
Francia, who has been instrumental in all of U-M's community service endeavors since joining the program, tied for fourth on the team in goals with 12. He also led the team in man-up scores with five. He wrapped up his Wolverine career with 25 goals and 15 assists for 39 points.
Michigan finished its fourth season of varsity lacrosse with a 10-9 loss to Penn State on April 28 inside Michigan Stadium. U-M equaled its program record of five wins from a year ago, setting team records in caused turnovers per game (8.92) and goals-against average (11.32).
