
No. 19 Michigan Travels to No. 8 Ohio State to End Busy Stretch

» No. 19 Michigan and No. 8 Ohio State will square off for the second time in the last 10 days. The last five games between the two rivals have each been decided by single digits, including two overtime contests.
» The Wolverines come in at No. 19 in this week's Associated Press poll, their highest ranking since checking in at No. 18 on Dec. 31, 2001. It is the first time since that ranking that U-M has entered the teens.
» Katelynn Flaherty (23.1 ppg) and Hallie Thome (16.4 ppg) combine to form the third-highest-scoring duo in a Power Five conference.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 19-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (15-4, 4-2 B1G) concludes a busy stretch of games by traveling to No. 8-ranked Ohio State (16-2, 5-0 B1G) to face the Buckeyes on Tuesday (Jan. 16) at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The game is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen live on the Big Ten Network.
• Freshman Hailey Brown was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week after scoring a career-high 23 points against Indiana (Jan. 10) and following up with a double-double against Nebraska (Jan. 13). Brown made 10-of-12 shots, including 3-for-3 from three-point range, against Indiana to record the first 20-point game of her career. She also grabbed eight rebounds and had an assist in 35 minutes of action. Brown came through with her second double-double of the season against the Huskers, going for 12 points and 10 rebounds in 34 minutes. Brown, who is averaging 8.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, is just the second freshman under sixth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico to be a full-time starter, joining Hallie Thome (2015-16). Brown also joins Thome and Katelynn Flaherty as Wolverines with a 20-point game in their career.
• Michigan heads to Ohio State with a 15-4 overall record, marking the fourth time in school history that the Wolverines have won at least 15 of the first 19 games after starting 15-4 in 2011-12, 16-3 in 2012-13 and 15-4 last season. Three of those four starts have come under sixth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico.
• Ohio State (16-2, 5-0 B1G) has played just one game since facing Michigan (Jan. 7), knocking off Indiana on Saturday (Jan. 13), 77-62. The Buckeyes are the only unbeaten team remaining in conference action at 5-0. OSU is led by a quartet of double-figure scorers in Kelsey Mitchell (25.6 ppg), Linnae Harper (15.4 ppg, 8.8 rpg), Stephanie Mavunga (15.2 ppg, 11.3 rpg) and Sierra Calhoun (12.9 ppg). The last five games between the two teams have each been decided by single digits.
• Michigan has found its shooting touch in its last 12 games, shooting over 50 percent six times, including its first 60-percent showing since Nov. 23, 2015 after shooting 61.4 percent against Delaware State (Dec. 21). Michigan is now up to second in the Big Ten and 13th nationally in field goal percentage at .479.
• Michigan features two double-figure scorers in Katelynn Flaherty (23.1 ppg) and Hallie Thome (16.4 ppg). The two combine to form the third-highest-scoring duo in a Power Five conference. Flaherty is eighth nationally in scoring, and Thome is eighth in the country in field goal percentage (.639).
• The Wolverines came in at No. 19 this week in the Associated Press poll, marking the 11th straight week they have been listed. The 11 straight appearances is a new school record, bettering the nine consecutive appearances during the 2001-02 season. It is Michigan's first ranking in the teens since coming in at No. 18 on Dec. 31, 2001.
