BALTIMORE, Md. -- University of Michigan men's lacrosse players Brent Noseworthy and Chase Young were named to the Inside Lacrosse Media All-America teams, the publication announced Sunday (May 13). The selections are the first All-America honors in program history. Noseworthy was named to the third team, while Young took home honorable mention accolades.
Noseworthy, most recently named first team All-Big Ten, set the Michigan single-season record for points (48) and goals (41). He also lead the team in shots (102) and man-up goals (4) this season. Noseworthy finished the regular season leading the Big Ten and was fifth nationally in goals per game (2.93). He ranked fourth in the league in points per game (3.43). His shooting percentage of 41 checked in at No. 4 in the conference, while his four man-up scores were third in the league.
The junior was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and earned a spot on the USILA National Team of the Week following his five-goal, one-assist performance in U-M's 13-12 upset win at No. 4 Notre Dame (March 21.) In all, he scored eight hat tricks on the season, had 10 multi-goal games and finished the campaign having scored a point in each of his last 28 games dating back to last season.
The Burlington, Ontario, native is third among midfielders in the NCAA in goals, and is the only player in the NCAA to have taken at least 15 faceoffs and have scored 40 goals. According to AnalyticsLacrosse.com, Noseworthy ranks as the No. 31 player and is No. 4 in the country in assisted goals (28).
Young, a senior tri-captain who was selected by the Denver Outlaws with the eighth pick of the fourth round (35th overall) in the 2018 Major League Lacrosse Draft, earned an honorable mention nod after finishing fifth on the team in goals (13) and sixth in points (18). Young finished his career with 81 ground balls and 25 turnovers, while appearing in 50 contests.
In head coach Kevin Conry's first season, U-M climbed as high as No. 15 in the Maverik media poll and 17th in the USILA coaches poll. Highlighted by the program's first road win over a ranked team (No. 4 Notre Dame on March 21), U-M also had a program-best 5-2 record at home.
