
Wolverines Head to USTA Campus to Face No. 3 Duke

» Michigan heads south this week, traveling to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, to train for several days before facing No. 3 Duke on Saturday (March 9) at noon.
» It is the second straight season that Michigan is training and competing at the USTA National Campus, which is also the finals site of this year's NCAA Championships.

The No. 22-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team (5-2) heads south this week, traveling to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. U-M will train outdoors for several days before facing No. 3 Duke (10-1) on Saturday (March 3) at noon.

• Michigan will head south this week, traveling to Orlando, Florida, to train at the USTA National Campus for several days. U-M will face No. 3 Duke on Saturday (March 9) at noon to wrap up the week.
• The Wolverines are training and competing at the USTA National Campus for the second straight season after facing UCF there last year. The USTA National Campus is the finals site for this year's NCAA Championships.
• The Wolverines remained in the top 25 in this week's Oracle/ITA Rankings, coming in at No. 22. The rankings have switched from a poll to a computer ranking for the rest of the season.
• No. 3 Duke (10-1) plays at No. 1 North Carolina before facing Michigan at the USTA National Campus. The Blue Devils feature three singles players ranked in the top 25 in No. 18 Maria Mateas, No. 19 Meible Chi and No. 23 Kelly Chen. Duke also has three ranked doubles teams, highlighted by No. 24 Kaitlyn McCarthy and Ellyse Hamlin. Â
• With Duke coming in at No. 3 in this week's rankings, the Blue Devils will be Michigan's fourth opponent this season in the current top 25 rankings. Michigan has also faced No. 1 North Carolina, No. 16 Texas and No. 23 Pepperdine. The Wolverines are still slated to face No. 10 Ohio State, No. 13 Northwestern and No. 25 Virginia this season.
• Freshman Anca Craciun picked up the first dual-match win of her career in Michigan's 7-0 shutout of Baylor (March 1). The freshman grabbed a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 3. Junior Lera Patiuk also recorded her first dual-match win of the season, taking a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4.
• Sophomore Alyvia Jones has hit her stride in dual-match action for the Maize and Blue, winning her last four singles matches to move her record over .500 for the season (10-7). Jones most recently picked up a pair of wins at No. 5 over Pepperdine's Dzina Milovanic to clinch the match and a victory over North Carolina's Alle Sanford, ranked No. 122.
• U-M is 5-0 this season when it wins the doubles point, getting victories over Ole Miss, Michigan State, Texas, Pepperdine and Baylor when securing the match's first point. Michigan is 3-1 at both No. 1 and No. 3 during dual matches, with Kate Fahey and Giulia Pairone teaming up at No. 1 and Bella Lorenzini and Chiara Lommer playing at No. 3.
• The Wolverines have two non-conference matches remaining after this weekend, hosting Virginia on March 13 and heading to Florida on April 11.
• Michigan features four ranked singles players in No. 4 Kate Fahey, No. 21 Chiara Lommer, No. 29 Brienne Minor and No. 89 Giulia Pairone.
• Senior Kate Fahey heads into the match with a 21-5 singles record this season. Fahey swept the titles at the ITA Midwest Regional Championship and finished as the singles runner-up at the ITA Fall National Championships. Fahey is 115-28 in singles during her illustrious career, putting her fourth all-time in wins. Fahey is closing in on volunteer assistant Ronit Yurovsky's third-place total of 117. Fahey's .803 winning percentage is tops in Michigan history. Emina Bektas (129) and Sarah Lee (125) occupy the top two spots on the all-time wins list.
• U-M returns to the Varsity Tennis for three matches next week, hosting Virginia on March 13 at 2 p.m. The Wolverines will then resume Big Ten action, welcoming Nebraska on March 16 and Iowa on March 17. Both weekend matches begin at noon.
