ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team (22-8, 4-1 Big Ten) will play a pair of 5 p.m. contests against Indiana State (23-6) on Tuesday (April 9) and Wednesday (April 10) at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium, then will head to Columbus for a three-game set against Ohio State (16-16, 2-4 Big Ten). Friday's (April 12) series opener is scheduled to begin at 6:35 p.m., with a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday (April 13) to wrap up the weekend, with all three games to be streamed live on BTN Plus.
• Michigan is coming off a series win over reigning Big Ten champ Minnesota last weekend. The Wolverines dropped Friday's (April 5) series opener, 6-4, which marked their first loss at home this season, before winning a 5-3 nail-biter on Saturday (April 6) and shutting out the Golden Gophers by an 8-0 score in the rubber match on Sunday (April 7).
• This week's midweek slate will mark the third and fourth meetings between the Wolverines and the Sycamores. The all-time series is split 1-1, with Indiana State winning the last meeting by a 7-1 score back in 1986. The Sycamores also advanced to the NCAA College World Series that season.
• The Sycamores enter the week with a 23-6 overall record but are coming off a series loss at Michigan State last weekend. Indiana State is 7-3 against Big Ten teams this season, which includes wins over Purdue, Michigan State, Illinois and a three-game sweep of Rutgers. The Sycamores are looking to make their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2014.
• Michigan sits atop the Big Ten Conference with a 4-1 record while also owning the highest overall win percentage (.733). The Wolverines opened up conference action with a series win over Michigan State (March 29-30) and clinched a series win over Minnesota last weekend (April 5-7). Michigan was picked by the league's coaches to finish second in the Big Ten this season.
• The Wolverines are 11-1 when playing at home this season after suffering their first home loss on Friday (April 5) against reigning Big Ten champion Minnesota. When playing at Ray Fisher Stadium, the Maize and Blue offense has combined for a .326 batting average and out-scored opponents by 77 runs (105-28). The Michigan pitching staff has held opponents to a .199 batting average and combined for a 2.03 earned-run average when inside the Wilpon Complex.
• Junior-college transfer Jordan Brewer has been a force in the lineup for the Wolverines in his first season, and has reached base in 22 consecutive games. The outfielder recorded a hit in every game during the Minnesota series and knocked his team-leading ninth homer of the year in Saturday's victory (April 6).
• Five Wolverine players enter the week hitting above .300, including Brewer (.368), sophomore Jordan Nwogu (.333) senior Blake Nelson (.324), sophomore Jack Blomgren (.317), and redshirt senior Miles Lewis (.300). Brewer leads the Big Ten and ranks 21st in the country with a .719 slugging percentage. He also leads the conference in RBI (29) and runs scored (29).
• Offensively, Michigan leads the Big Ten in batting average (.289), stolen bases (50) and doubles (66). The Wolverine offense also ranks in the top three among conference opponents in hits, triples, home runs, on-base percentage, runs scored and slugging percentage.
• The Wolverines' 2.95 earned-run average leads the Big Ten Conference and ranks 11th-best in the nation. The pitching staff also has combined for a conference-most six shutouts, which ranks tied for first in the country.
