ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Big Ten Conference office announced Tuesday (July 9) its 2018-19 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars, with 76 University of Michigan student-athletes earning recognition for their work in the classroom over the last year.
The list includes student-athletes who recorded a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year. The Wolverines' list is comprised of 30 men and 46 women across 21 sports. Rowing led all programs with 11 selections.
The 76 Distinguished Scholars mark the third straight year with more than 70 honorees, the three top marks in school history.
Leading the way for U-M is NCAA Elite 90 Award winner Annika Hoffmann (rowing). Michigan had 14 student-athletes finish the year with a 4.0 grade-point average.
