Wolverine Notes
• Michigan has had at least four players reach double figures in scoring in both of its games this season. All five starters -- Naz Hillmon (26), Leigha Brown (22), Amy Dilk (15), Akienreh Johnson (11) and Hailey Brown (10) -- each scored at least 10 points in Michigan's win over Central Michigan (Nov. 25). The Wolverines followed that up with four players in double figures at Oakland (Nov. 27) in Hillmon (35), Leigha Brown (11), Hailey Brown (11) and Michelle Sidor (11).
• Through two games, Michigan is averaging 94.0 points per game (16th nationally) on 56.6 percent shooting (fifth nationally). In its season opener, U-M shot 61.7 percent from the floor -- its highest shooting percentage since shooting 66.0 percent from the floor against Wake Forest on Dec. 1, 2010. Michigan last topped 60 percent from the floor on Dec. 21, 2017, hitting 61.4 percent against Delaware State. Michigan's 61.7 percent showing is the highest mark by the Wolverines under ninth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico.
• The contest at Notre Dame marks the return to Indiana for Michigan's four Hoosier natives. Amy Dilk (Carmel), Leigha Brown (Auburn), Emily Kiser (Noblesville) and Maddie Nolan (Zionsville) will be making their return to their home state. All four were members of Indiana's All-Star team following their high school graduation, with Dilk taking home Miss Basketball honors in 2018.
• Junior Naz Hillmon was named the Big Ten Player of the Week for the second time in her career after helping Michigan to a 2-0 record to start the 2020-21 season. In Michigan's season-opening win over Central Michigan (Nov. 25), Hillmon recorded a double-double of 26 points on 11-for-13 shooting with 11 rebounds. She followed that performance with a career-high 35 points on 16-for-24 shooting at Oakland (Nov. 27), while tallying seven boards, three steals and a block. Her 35-point game is tops by a Big Ten player and the third-highest nationally this season. Hillmon is fifth nationally in scoring average at 30.5 points per game on 73.0 percent shooting.
• Senior Hailey Brown has started in all 94 career games in which she has played. She is one of three Wolverines to score in double figures in both of Michigan's games this season, averaging 10.5 points per game. For her career, she has hit 113 triples and needs 21 more to move into the top 10 in program history. The Canadian is up to 805 career points, needing 195 more to become Michigan's 30th 1,000-point scorer.
• The Fighting Irish (1-1) are coming off an 88-68 win over Miami (Ohio) after dropping their season opener at Ohio, 86-85. Notre Dame features four double-figure scorers in Destinee Walker (20.0 ppg), Dara Mabrey (17.0 ppg), Anaya Peoples (15.0 ppg) and Maddy Westbeld (15.0 ppg).
