Wolverine Notes
• Junior point guard Amy Dilk has shown multiple sides to her game through the first three contests of the season. Against Central Michigan on Nov. 25, she went for 15 points -- including 5-for-5 shooting -- and six rebounds in the decisive third quarter of U-M's 93-75 win. She followed that up by going for nine assists, three rebounds and three steals in Michigan's 33-point win at Oakland (Nov. 27). Dilk continued to find her teammates in a 76-66 win at Notre Dame on Thursday night (Dec. 3), as she finished with seven assists, six points and three boards. On the season, she has 17 assists to just three turnovers, and her 5.7 assist-to-turnover ratio ranking fifth in the Big Ten and 22nd nationally.
• Sophomore Maddie Nolan is one of the more versatile Wolverines on this year's team. Nolan has continued her impressive play from late last season, averaging 5.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per game to start her sophomore campaign. She is second on the team in both rebounding and in triples made with four. She made two three-pointers at Notre Dame (Dec. 3), the latter capping a 7-0 run to help Michigan take control in the fourth quarter.
Nolan started the final 11 games of last season but moved back to a reserve role with the arrival of Leigha Brown.
• Junior Leigha Brown has wasted no time making her presence felt in the Michigan lineup. She is second on the team in scoring (15.7 points per game), while bringing down 4.0 boards per game and ranking second on the team with 11 assists. She played all 40 minutes in Michigan's win at Notre Dame (Dec. 3), recording 14 points, five boards, two assists and a block. She has scored in double figures in each of Michigan's three games, one of three Wolverines to do that (Naz Hillmon, 20.0 ppg; Hailey Brown, 13.0 ppg).
• Wright State (0-1) is coming off a 66-61 season-opening loss to Bradley on Wednesday (Dec. 2). In that game, the Raiders scored 61 points on 23-for-68 shooting (33.8 percent). WSU put three players in double figures in Angel Baker (18), Emani Jefferson (13) and Destyne Jackson (11). The Wolverines lead, 2-0, in the all-time series against the Raiders, 2-0.
• Michigan features four double-figure scorers -- Naz Hillmon (27.0 ppg), Leigha Brown (15.7 ppg), Hailey Brown (13.0 ppg) and Akienreh Johnson (11.5 ppg). Hillmon is second in the Big Ten in scoring (Caitlin Clark, Iowa; 28.5 ppg).
