
Michigan to Return to Action at Purdue

» Michigan returns to action for the first time since Jan. 21, hitting the road to play at Purdue.
» Naz Hillmon is the only player nationally to be in the top 10 in both scoring and rebounding, ranking second in scoring (26.1 ppg) and seventh in rebounding (12.3 rpg).
» Thursday's game will feature eight players who earned Indiana All-Star honors following the completion of their high school careers, with each school having four. U-M's Indiana contingent consists of Leigha Brown, Amy Dilk, Emily Kiser and Maddie Nolan.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 12-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (10-1, 5-1 Big Ten) returns to action for the first time in three weeks, traveling to Purdue to take on the Boilermakers (6-9, 3-8 Big Ten) Thursday evening (Feb. 11) at Mackey Arena. The game is set for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.

Wolverine Notes
• Michigan is returning to action for the first time since Jan. 21 after a department-wide pause in athletic activity. The Wolverines returned to the gym last Thursday (Feb. 4) for injury-prevention activities and sports-specific training in small groups. Over the course of the next several days, Michigan phased back into full practice in preparation for the contest at Purdue.
• Michigan has three players scoring in double figures in Naz Hillmon (26.1 ppg), Leigha Brown (19.7 ppg) and Akienreh Johnson (11.8 ppg), with Amy Dilk (9.2 ppg) right below. Hillmon has scored in double figures in all but one of her 11 games, with Brown reaching double figures in all seven games she has played.
• Michigan is in at No. 12 in both polls this week, getting 393 points in the Associated Press poll and 427 points in the USA Today Coaches poll. The Wolverines also are No. 13 in the latest NET rankings, the new tool that has replaced RPI for NCAA Tournament selections, and are listed as a No. 4 seed in ESPN's Bracketology.
• The Boilermakers (6-9, 3-5 B1G) have dropped three straight after a one-point win over Wisconsin on Jan. 21. Purdue is averaging 66.6 points per game on 40.1 percent shooting while allowing 71.1 points per game on 43.0 percent shooting. The Boilers have a pair of double-figure scorers in Kayana Traylor (13.9 ppg) and Brooke Moore (11.0 ppg). The last six games between the two schools have been decided by 10 points or fewer.
• Michigan has been effective on the glass, outrebounding its opponents in all but two games this season. U-M is fifth nationally and leads the Big Ten in rebounding margin at +14.2. U-M also leads the conference in rebounding offense (45.6) and rebounding defense (31.5). Michigan has grabbed at least 50 rebounds in three games this season. U-M has three players grabbing at least five boards a game in Big Ten-leading Naz Hillmon (12.3 rpg), Amy Dilk (5.6 rpg) and Akienreh Johnson (5.8 rpg). In addition, Maddie Nolan is going for 4.8 boards per contest.
• Thursday's game against Purdue will feature eight players between the two teams who earned Indiana All-Star honors during their high school careers. Michigan has a trio of 2018 All-Stars in Leigha Brown (DeKalb), Amy Dilk (Carmel) and Emily Kiser (Noblesville), along with 2019 All-Star Maddie Nolan (Zionsville). Purdue has a quartet as well in Karissa McLaughlin (2017, Homestead), Kayana Traylor (2018, Martinsville), Cassidy Hardin (2018, Center Grove) and Madison Layden (2020, Northwestern). Dilk and McLaughlin each earned Indiana Miss Basketball honors as well.
Last Time Against Purdue
• Naz Hillmon scored with 17 seconds left to push the Wolverine lead to three points, and the defense forced a turnover on the ensuing possession as the Wolverines grinded out a 66-63 win over Purdue on Feb. 6, 2020 at Crisler Center.
Hillmon led the way for Michigan with her eighth double-double of the season, going for 19 points and 12 boards. Akienreh Johnson also recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards, while Hailey Brown chipped in 16 points. Amy Dilk handed out eight assists and Maddie Nolan went for two points, six boards and four blocks in her first collegiate start.
