ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team fell to No. 17-ranked Ohio State by a 14-6 tally Saturday (March 27) at U-M Lacrosse Stadium. Freshman standout Michael Boehm scored a goal and had an assist for the Wolverines, while junior Bryce Clay had four ground balls and a game-high four caused turnovers.
Michigan (1-5, 1-5 Big Ten) fell behind, 1-0, early before tying it up with a goal from grad student Tyler Papa. The score sat at 1-1 at the end of one quarter, but a 7-0 run by Ohio State (3-3, 3-3 Big Ten) in the second quarter gave the Buckeyes an 8-1 lead going into the half.
Both sides traded goals to begin the third quarter, but a 3-0 run by the Wolverines that included goals from Boehm, Clay, and junior faceoff specialist Nick Rowlett cut the Ohio State lead to 10-5 at the end of the third quarter.
Michigan opened up the fourth quarter with consecutive penalties, and a fast-break goal by sophomore Jake Bonomi gave the Wolverines their first man-down goal since 2016. The man-down goal was the last for the Maize and Blue, while OSU scored the final four goals of the game.
Junior goalie John Kiracofe had 12 saves, and Rowlett went 11-of-21 from the dot. Freshman midfielder Grant McCurry scored the first goal of his Michigan career at the 10:10 mark in the third quarter.
