
Michigan to Honor Seven on Senior Day Against California

The No. 7-ranked University of Michigan water polo team (16-7) looks to continue its good run of form as it returns home for senior day against No. 4-ranked California (14-2) on Friday (March 25) at Canham Natatorium. The game will begin at 2 p.m. and will air live on Big Ten Network.
Before the game Michigan will honor its two graduate students, Maddie O'Reilly and Sofie Pontré, as well as its five seniors, Kayla Barone, Sophie Jackson, Ava Morrant, Erin Neustrom and Maddy Steere.
Senior Spotlight
• Maddie O'Reilly leads the team in scoring with 49 goals on the season and has 169 goals in her career. She needs just four more goals to move up to No. 10 on the Michigan all-time scoring list.
• Sofie Pontré has recorded 78 goals and 50 assists during her time at Michigan.
• Sophie Jackson has a season-high 86 saves on the year and has collected 12 steals. Jackson has recorded 156 saves during her time with U-M.
• Kayla Barone has recorded a season-high 37 goals this year while adding 16 assists. During her time as a Wolverine, Barone has scored 58 goals and recorded 46 assists.
• Maddy Steere has recorded 209 goals and 146 assists as a Wolverine. Steere is tied for sixth on the all-time scoring list and third on the all-time assists list. Steere also leads the team with 27 steals on the season.
• Erin Neustrom has scored 113 goals, recorded 11 assists and added 33 steals in her time at Michigan. This season, Neustorm has recorded 27 goals, three steals and nine steals.
• Ava Morrant has recorded 74 goals, 49 assists and 70 steals during her time as a Wolverine. This season, she has collected 23 goals, 16 assists and 20 steals.
Team Notes
• Lola Ciruli and Maddie O'Reilly led the Wolverines in scoring against Brown and Mount St. Mary's with five goals apiece, while Maddy Steere chipped in four, all against Brown.
• Alex Brown collected 11 saves against Brown and Mount St. Mary's and allowed only two goals in two halves of play.
• Maddie O'Reilly leads the conference with 49 goals and 39 assists.
• Maddy Steere leads the CWPA in field blocks (11) and steals (27).
• Alex Brown and Sophie Jackson are ranked first and second in the CWPA in saves. Brown has 148 saves and Jackson has 86.
Opponent Preview
California is 14-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The Golden Bears are led offensively by Emma Wright with 33 goals and 23 assists. Defensively, they are led by Rozanne Voorvelt, who has recorded 12 field blocks, and Isabel Williams, who has 19 steals on the season. Between the pipes, Isabel Williams has recorded 169 saves and has a 63 percent save percentage.
