The No. 7-ranked University of Michigan water polo team (16-8, 4-0 CWPA) will played four conference games in Princeton, N.J. this weekend (April 2-3) as the Wolverines face off against Harvard, Bucknell, Mount St. Mary's and No. 19 Princeton.
Team Notes
• In Michigan's most recent game, a loss to California (March 25), Michigan was led by Elise Walker, Maddie O'Reilly and Kata Utassy who all found the back of the net two times apiece.
• O'Reilly leads the CWPA in goals with 51 and assists with 40. She is also tied for seventh in the NCAA in assists.
• Maddy Steere leads the CWPA in field blocks with 11 and steals with 27.
• Alex Brown leads the conference in saves with 148 and Sophie Jackson is right behind with 93 saves.
• Earlier this season, Michigan collected wins over Bucknell (March 5) and Mount St. Mary's (March 20).
Opponent Previews
Harvard: Harvard has a record of 16-4 and is 4-1 in conference play. In Harvard's last game, the Crimson defeated Marist College, 20-8. Junior Evan Tingler totaled two goals, three assists, and three steals in the victory. First-year player Erin Kim scored a career-high five goals to pace the unit while adding an assist and steal. Junior goalie Zoe Banks saved 12 of the 20 shots that she faced while picking up a steal. Junior Grace Thawley netted four goals to go along with four ejections drawn. Junior Borden Wahl scored a hat trick and contributed two assists. First-year Dany Zapata added two goals and a game-high four assists.
Bucknell: The Bison are currently 8-12 and 2-6 in conference play. Bucknell fell to Long Beach State, 21-4, in its most recent game. Chloe Smith chipped in two goals and Paige Furano and Boati Motau both scored once.
Mount St. Mary's: The Mount is currently 8-19 overall and 1-8 in conference play. Ana Luisa Cotta leads The Mount with 37 goals, in 36 assists and 37 steals. Between the pipes, Samantha Bright has collected 159 saves on the season.
Princeton: No. 19-ranked Princeton is currently 17-5 overall and 6-0 in conference play. Jovana Sekulic leads the team with 58 in goals, while Alana Evans leads all players with 30 assists. On the defensive side, Kayla Yelensky and Grace Houlahan lead the team in steals with 27 apiece. In goal, Isabel Zaller has recorded 151 saves, eight assists, and seven steals.
