
Wolverines to Head to Bahamas for Battle 4 Atlantis

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (2-0) travels to the Bahamas to participate in the three-day Battle 4 Atlantis (Nov. 18-20) at Atlantis Paradise Island. First up for Michigan will be Middle Tennessee (2-1) on Saturday (Nov. 18) at 5 p.m. Â Â

• Michigan is participating in the Battle 4 Atlantis for the first time in program history. It marks the second straight season that U-M will play in an eight-team tournament (three games) around the Thanksgiving holiday. U-M won the Gulf Coast Showcase last season, knocking off Air Force, South Florida and Baylor en route to the title. Joining Michigan at the event are Arizona, DePaul, Howard, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Ole Miss and South Dakota.
• Michigan scored 80 points for the second straight game last time out (Nov. 14), recording an 80-39 win over Oakland. All but one Wolverine who saw the floor scored at least four points, led by Cameron Williams (12 points) and Laila Phelia (10). Four Wolverines set or tied their career highs in scoring in Chyra Evans (8), Alyssa Crockett (8), Whitney Sollom (6) and Taylor Woodson (4). In addition, Lauren Hansen handed out a career-best eight assists.
• After missing the season opener, the Australia duo of Chyra Evans and Elissa Brett made their season debuts in Michigan's win over Oakland (Nov. 14). Brett played 10 minutes in her first action in the Maize and Blue, turning in five points on 2-for-2 shooting and a rebound. Evans equaled her career-high eight points while also recording five rebounds, two assists and a block in 12 minutes.
• U-M leads the Big Ten in offensive rebounding (20.0 per game) and blocked shots (6.5 per game) after its first two contests. Michigan has turned those 20.0 offensive rebounds per game into 22.5 second-chance points per game. Sollom and Cameron Williams are tied for the team lead with seven offensive boards each.
• Cameron Williams recorded Michigan's first double-double of the season and the second of her career with 12 points and 12 rebounds against Oakland (Nov. 14). Her fellow Williams, Taylor Williams, is second in the Big Ten in career double-doubles, checking in with 27 during her three years on the court at Western Michigan.
• Michigan has a pair of double-figure scorers in Phelia (17.5 ppg) and Cameron Williams (13.0 ppg), who have reached double figures in both games this season. U-M has eight players averaging at least 5.0 points per game in Phelia, C. Williams, Hansen (9.0 ppg), Jordan Hobbs (8.5 ppg), Evans (8.0 ppg), Taylor Williams (7.5 ppg), Brett (5.0 ppg) and Crockett (5.0 ppg). All 13 Wolverines have played in at least one game and all have scored points this season.
• U-M is 93-9 under head coach Kim Barnes Arico when scoring at least 80 points. Michigan has reached the 80-point mark in both of its games this season.
• Michigan will face either DePaul or South Dakota in the second game of the tournament on Sunday (Nov. 19). The majority of the tournament will be available on FloHoops, with ESPN2 broadcasting the championship game and ESPNU showing the third-place game on Monday afternoon (Nov. 20).
