
Wolverines to Continue Road Swing at Toledo

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (7-1) will continue a three-game road swing on Wednesday (Dec. 6), heading to Toledo to face the Rockets (3-2) at 5 p.m. The game will be shown live on the CBS Sports Network, Michigan's second national television game this season.
Notes
• Michigan is in the midst of a three-game road swing, one that began with an 80-66 win at Harvard on Saturday (Dec. 2). Following this contest at Toledo, U-M will head to Champaign to face Illinois (Dec. 10) before hosting Miami (Ohio) at Crisler on Dec. 16 following exams. U-M is 1-0 in true road games this season and 3-1 away from Crisler Center.
• The NCAA released its first NET rankings of the season on Monday (Dec. 4), with Michigan coming in at No. 25. The Wolverines are the fourth-highest Big Ten team in the rankings.
• Michigan and Toledo are wrapping up a home-and-home series that started last year at Crisler Center. U-M fell behind early in the contest before taking a one-point lead with 20 seconds remaining. Toledo scored the final four points of the game - the last two at the line - to pick up the 70-67 win. Michigan's last trip to Savage Arena came during the 2015 WNIT, when U-M picked up a 73-58 win on March 23, 2015.
• Michigan has a pair of players who have faced Toledo many times the last several years in Elissa Brett (Bowling Green) and Taylor Williams (Western Michigan). The last time Brett played at Savage Arena, she hit a career-best seven three-pointers (March 4, 2023).
• Michigan has had 10 players record a double-figure scoring game thus far, with Laila Phelia scoring at least 10 points in seven games. Lauren Hansen (5), Jordan Hobbs (3), Cameron Williams (2), Chyra Evans (2), Taylor Williams (2), Greta Kampschroeder (1), Brett (1), Macy Brown (1) and Alyssa Crockett (1) have each reached double figures in scoring this season.
• A year after ranking second in the Big Ten in scoring defense (63.4 ppg), Michigan has continued to find success on the defensive end to start the 2023-24 season. U-M is first in the league and 35th nationally on the defensive end, giving up just 53.8 points per game. Michigan has held five of its opponents under 60 points and all eight under 70 points this season.
• U-M leads the Big Ten in offensive rebounding (16.3 per game), turning those into 16.3 second-chance points per game after putting up 15 second-chance points at Harvard (Dec. 2). U-M is also first in the Big Ten in rebounding margin at +11.9. Taylor Williams is second in the conference in offensive rebounds per game at 3.0 per game. Michigan has four players averaging at least four rebounds per game in Cameron Williams (6.0), Taylor Williams (5.5), Hobbs (4.0) and Phelia.
• Hansen has found her scoring groove over Michigan's last two games, going for 14 points against SIUE (Nov. 29) and a Michigan-best 16 points at Harvard (Dec. 2). She has hit four three-pointers on just seven attempts over the stretch, good for a 57.1 percent shooting clip. She has reached double figures five times this season and is averaging just under 10 points per game at 9.9 per. Hansen also leads U-M with 25 assists, good for 3.1 per game.
• U-M is 96-9 under head coach Kim Barnes Arico when scoring at least 80 points. Michigan has reached the 80-point mark five times this season, hitting it on the dot four times and exploding for 103 points against SIUE (Nov. 29).
• Michigan will wrap up its three-game road swing next time out, playing one Big Ten game at Illinois (Dec. 10) before completing non-conference action.
