
Wolverines to Open Home Slate vs. Canisius, Hobart

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 14-ranked University of Michigan men's lacrosse team will open up the home portion of the 2024 season against the Canisius Golden Griffins on Tuesday (Feb. 13) at 4 p.m. at U-M Lacrosse Stadium. That will be followed by a matchup against the Hobart Statesmen on Saturday (Feb. 17) at 3 p.m. at Detroit Country Day School in Beverly Hills, Mich.

• Michigan ranks No. 14 in the Inside Lacrosse Media poll and No. 13 in the USILA Coaches Poll entering week two of game action.
• The Wolverines are 3-2 all-time in home openers at U-M Lacrosse Stadium under head coach Kevin Conry, winning the last two: 21-5 against Detroit Mercy (Feb. 12, 2022) and 11-10 over Hofstra on Feb. 18, 2023.
• Senior Michael Boehm became the third player in school history to reach 100 goals in a career against Virginia. His two markers bring his total to 101 goals, joining former teammate Josh Zawada (119) and Brent Noseworthy (102, 2016-19). He is 38 points away from the U-M career record (Zawada, 213) and 20 helpers away from Zawada's assist record (94).
• Against Virginia, ten Wolverines made program debuts in graduate students Beau Pederson, Christian Ronda, Justin Tiernan, Cathal Roberts and Andrew Stanzel. Sophomore Mason Whitney, in addition to freshmen Rowan Clay, Jackie Weller, Jack Jenkins, and Nick Roode also debuted.
• Roberts earned the start on close defense against the Cavaliers (Feb. 10), collecting four ground balls and caused four turnovers, tying for the third-most in program history in a single game.
• Set for a more increased role in 2024, sophomore Bo Lockwood surpassed his point total from a season ago in one game. After totaling three points as a freshman, he registered a goal and three assists against Virginia (Feb. 10).
• The Wolverines lead the all-time series against the Golden Griffins by a 4-0 margin, with all three contests being contested at U-M Lacrosse Stadium. Last season, U-M was victorious by a 19-8 score behind five goals and four assists (nine points) from Boehm. Ten different players scored goals and 47 players saw game action.
• U-M and the Statesmen have played once before. U-M fell in Geneva by a score of 11-7 in the 2013 season. Hobart head coach Greg Raymond and Conry both played lacrosse at Johns Hopkins, overlapping for two seasons in 2003-04.
