Notes
• Michigan hit the 80-point mark against Penn State (Feb. 3) for the first time since an 84-48 win at Illinois (Dec. 10). Michigan is 7-0 this season when scoring at least 80 points.
• Michigan snapped a two-game losing streak last time out, getting an 80-75 win at Penn State (Feb. 3) to move over .500 in Big Ten play at 6-5 in conference action. Michigan and Nebraska are tied in the standings with identical 6-5 records, two of the seven teams with conference records over .500.
• For the second time this season, U-M had all five starters score in double figures in its win at Penn State (Feb. 3). At PSU, Michigan was led by Laila Phelia's 23 points and Lauren Hansen's 15. The Australian duo of Chyra Evans and Elissa Brett each went for 12 points, with Jordan Hobbs scoring 10 points. Michigan had just put its entire starting lineup in double figures against Maryland (Jan. 24), with Evans (17), Hobbs (15), Phelia (14), Cameron Williams (11) and Hansen (10) accounting for 67 of Michigan's 79 points. U-M is 2-0 this season when five players score in double figures.
• There are four natives of Australia between the two teams in Evans (Newcastle, NSW), Brett (Adelaide), Jaz Shelley (Moe) and Jessica Petrie (Gold Coast). Evans (2021) and Shelley (2018) each have been named the winner of the Bob Staunton Medal. The Bob Staunton Medal is awarded to the most outstanding male and female player at the annual Australian Under 20 Championships.
• Michigan is looking for the series split against Nebraska after the Huskers recorded a 62-43 win in Lincoln on Jan. 17. U-M was held to a season-low 43 points in the game, its second game without Brett after she was injured during the Minnesota game (Jan. 9). Michigan has won the last four games between the teams at Crisler Center.
• Evans did it all in Michigan's win over Maryland (Jan. 24), finishing with then-career highs in points (17), assists (5) and minutes (41) to go with eight rebounds. She was just as effective in Michigan's win at Penn State (Feb. 3), going for 12 points on 6-for-9 shooting, four rebounds and a new career high in assists with six. Evans has started the last 14 games and is averaging 6.3 points and 4.0 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per game. She has scored in double figures six times this season, the first double-figure scoring games of her career.
• Four of Michigan's starters have upped their scoring average in Big Ten play. Phelia is averaging more than 18.5 points per game in conference play, up from her season average of 16.3 points per game. Hansen is up to 12.3 points per game from 11.6 points per game, with Hobbs in double figures at 10.1 points per game from 9.0 points per game. Evans rounds out the quartet up to 7.3 points per game in Big Ten action from 6.3 points per game in the regular season.
