
Maize & Blue to Visit Ypsilanti for Midweek Game with EMU

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team (7-13) will head down the road to take on Eastern Michigan in a Tuesday (March 19) contest at Oestrike Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. with the game streaming live on EMU All-Access.
Notes
• Michigan walked off San Diego to take the series finale, 3-2, with a Collin Priest home run to right field. Kurt Barr earned the win after five strong innings on the mound in relief for his second win of the week. U-M fell 8-6 on Friday and 16-7 on Saturday. The Wolverines walked off Toledo in their last midweek contest, 7-6, in the 12th inning.
• Mitch Voit leads the team in average (.333), hits (28), doubles (11) and total bases (47). Voit's doubles are second in the conference and fifth nationally. He has reached base in 19 of the 20 games this season with hits in 18 of the 20 games. Over the last week, Voit added six hits and two doubles.
• U-M is third nationally in double plays with 24 turned on the season. Coastal Carolina and Purdue are tied for first with 25. The Wolverines are also third nationally in double plays per game (1.20) trailing Coastal Carolina and Georgetown. Michigan's game high is four -- which they have reached twice this season. Kyle Dernedde has turned 19 with Mack Timbrook second at 16 and Voit in third on the team with 15.
• Over the last ten games, Stephen Hrustich leads the Wolverines with five home runs and 14 hits for a .389 average, and a .889 slugging percentage. Hrustich has 32 total bases and has scored 10 runs with nine RBIs. On the season, Hrustich is hitting .271 with six home runs with a .414 on-base percentage. He has started 19 of the 20 games this season and has appeared in all three outfield positions and at catcher.
• Jacob Denner has pitched in six games with three starts on the season with 16 strikeouts. In his last appearance, he pitched 2.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts against Toledo. In his career, Denner has 72 career appearances -- which ranks seventh all-time in program history and is one way from tying Greg Everson for sixth all-time. Denner is also closing in on the top ten in strikeouts as he is currently tied with Peter Helt at 215 in 11th place. Connor O'Halloran ranks tenth with 222.
• After a slow start, Dernedde has picked it up offensively with 14 hits and 23 total bases over the last ten games. He has scored six runs and knocked in four in that stretch. He hit his first home run as a Wolverine against Coastal Carolina. Dernedde has started all 16 games at shortstop this season and holds a .961 fielding percentage.
• Thirty-four of the 38 players on the roster have seen game action this season with 21 players recording a plate appearance and 18 players seeing action on the mound. Five players have done both this season with Voit leading the way among those with five starts on the mound and 88 plate appearances. Only three players have started every game this season for the Wolverines, Voit, Dernedde and Cole Caruso.
• Eastern Michigan is 6-13 on the season with all 19 games on the road. The Eagles took the final game against Morehead State last weekend in a four-game series but were outscored 60-27 in the series. All time, U-M is 121-63-2 against Eastern and the first game was back in 1867. In Ypsilanti, the Wolverines are 44-28-2 with the last game coming in 2018, a 12-5 win for U-M. The last match between these teams came at home on May 8, 2019, with the Wolverines coming out on top, 10-1.
