ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 25-ranked University of Michigan men's cross country team will head north to East Lansing, Mich., for the Big Ten Cross Country Championships hosted by Michigan State at 10:35 a.m. on Friday (Oct. 31). The 8K meet will be run at the Forest Akers East Golf Course and will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
Notes
• Michigan remains at No. 5 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association regional rankings and No. 25 in the Coaches National Poll. This places the Wolverines fourth among conference teams in the poll, behind Oregon, Michigan State and Wisconsin.
• The Maize and Blue closed out regular-season competition at the EMU Fall Classic on Oct. 24 in Dexter, Mich., with four Wolverines finishing in the top 15 in the non-scored meet.
• Camden Law took fifth place, leading U-M and setting a new personal-best 5K time of 15:20.2. Marcus Reilly finished in eighth (15:31.7), shaving more than 10 seconds off his previous best. Law earned Big Ten Athlete of the Week honors on Wednesday (Oct. 29) for his performance.
• The Wolverines wrapped up last year's Big Ten Championships with a fifth-place finish in Savoy, Ill. Nathan Lopez led the Wolverines, placing 26th overall (23:15.1), with Caleb Jarema and Jack Spamer finishing close behind and crossing the finish line in sync at 23:18.5 to take 27th and 28th place, respectively.
• Jarema's time remains his personal best over eight kilometers. The senior will look to channel last year's performance at his fourth career Big Ten Championships.
• Lopez was Michigan's top finisher twice this season, posting his career-best 8K time of 23:14.9 at the Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 26 and will aim to carry that momentum into his third career Big Ten Championships appearance.
